SOURCE: Considering buying one with 160k

Depends on how well it was taken care of.
It is easy to get parts for and work on, so you could keep it running probably as long as you cared to.
The weakest link in cars are the automatic transmissions, so you don't have to worry about that.
The engine is probably going to get tired around 220k miles, but even that can easily be replaced with a salvage one for about $1500.
At least you know the clutch should be good for another 160k.
Brakes last about every 90k, and cost about $250.
CV joints and axles go about every 150K and cost about $300.
It depends on finding good mechanics that you trust more than anything else.

You\'ra asking about a 22 year old vehicle. I wouldn\'t take that for free & certainly not pay for it. Get something newer. Any vehicle over 12 to 14 years old, isn\'t even worth working on, unless you have decades of experience & do all your own work.
If you know nothing about cars, you need something fairly new.

Leaking back break lines

This is a serious problem. Depending on what material you use, and who works on this car, will directly reflect on the price of the repair.

Many of the replacement parts have to be hand fitted. Some preformed lines are available, but they are often sold as a complete set.

There are special tools needed to create a brakeline out of a coil of material. Each end of brakeline would need to be crimped with the correct fitting for the individual inlet hole. Using different sizes of fitting is the Manufactuers method to insure that the brakeline fits in only the correct place.

This made more sense when replacements were bolt on parts and readily available. Today though, it is a complication to buy different size ends for each brakeline.

You are going to want to go either to a Brakeshop or someone who has done this work before. Consider this, all Brakelines were installed the same day on the Assembly line. If 2 leak now, it won't be long before all 4 leak. If you do not know the History of the car, and what was replaced earlier, you need someone to inspect the brakes.

1998 audi a6 2.8 quattro tiptronic doesnt work but auto still fine?

Google it - Check this LINK. If your horn or other steering wheel controls do not work, it's likely the clockspring - the device that transmits the inputs from the steering wheel into the wiring harness under the dash. Pray it's not, otherwise your Audi tech will be buying himself a new S4.

Need to find a diagram and instructions to replace or service the convertible motor for my 2001 996 cab

Your best bet will be to go to eBay and type in your model & year, or just porsche & year to see exactly what's available there. I saw many manuals on DVD listed for that make.

I purchased Nissan, MINI, Mercedes, Mitsubishi, Toyota and a few other DVD's that contain the complete shop manual.

These manufacturers don't make the materials readily available as a rule, so this may shorten your hunt and be more affordable than buying the paper service manual.

Here's a link to paper manuals.

Good luck!

I have a 84 V65 Magna. When I get on the throttle in 1st & 2nd gear, it clunks (like it's skipping). It only happens only in 1st & 2nd gear. What's the problem?

I use to have the same exact bike. Mine did the same thing. My problem was in the transmission. In mime it was the teeth of my first and second gear were damaged. The bike was too old to invest the money to fix it.The person who owned it before me had miss shifted alot.I did it once and that put the icing on the cake.

I was considering buying a practically a brand new 1999 dodge Intrepid. the only problem with it, is a blown piston. I was wondering how much does it basically cost to replace the piston?

IMO, I wouldn't buy it, unless they're selling it in the 300-500 range. I'd just replace the engine with a used one, preferably a 3.2\3.5L.

I recently bought a 2nd hand 2003 galant 2.0, after my mechanic replaced the timing belt, the engine won't start. There was no spark on the cables. What's wrong? Please help.

It is imperative to have a very experienced mechanic performs a timing belt service!! If not done correctly on this vehicle, severe engine damage may occur. I would recommend checking the cam position sensor, this controls spark!! If damaged or disconnected, you will experience a "NO START" condition!!
