Question about Cars & Trucks

1 Answer

2002 ml500 The traction light in the center of the speedometer flickers on when we pass over a small bump and the the ABS makes a buzzing sound when the breaks are applied. The three warning lights on the left side come on and the car acts erratically. Yhe mirrors will not fold in, the cruse control stops working, it even effects the A/C. A switch in the steering column has been replaced but the problem persists. Someone suggested a wheel sensor? The problem is intermittent one day fine the other not. Dealers don't seem to know what part to change.

The dealer has to know how to diagnose ABS System problems

They have to drive it first & you should drive with them along, then
switch seats,do that

SOURCE: Hello, I took my 2002 Lincoln LS to the Ford

The speed sensor is found on the wheel hub. It is the only part which has wires connected to it. Usually you would see hoses for the brakes in that area.

For additional information, I have managed to get a video.

Dash lights and headlights are flicker on my 2000 Buick LeSabre limited. Any solutions? Also the abs and traction control light won't go off.

Traction light is on because the abs is on.Traction control needs to have the abs system fully functioning to work. Most common cause of abs light is a wheel speed sensor. As for your lights flickering the alternator may be going out or you have a poor ground connection.Would check battery cables first to make sure they are tight.

Speedo suddenly not working and two warning lights appeared on dashboard one being ABS light warning light.

If the ABS (and likely the traction control) light came on at the same time that the speedometer stopped working, you likely have a faulty wheel speed sensor at the right rear wheel. You can test this by swapping the two rear wheel speed sensors (ABS sensors). If the speedometer then works (but the ABS & Traction control lights stay on), replace the sensor that is now at the left rear (was at the right rear). If no change, you may have a fault in the ABS & Traction control - control unit.

2002 Jeep Grand Cherokee limited 4.7 speedometer flips around when headlights are on bad, and rarely when they are not on.

Sounds like a "bad" earth on the dash head unit. Also check enging to chassis earths, gearbox to chassis, battery to chassis etc.

ABS and TC light on, speedometer and odometer not working

I have the 2000 Cadillac Catera Sport and I had the same problem. ABS, TC light and no speedometer and odo. I thought it was an electrical problem however I solved the problem by refurbishing the ABS Module. If you bring to the dealer it will cost you $3,000. You can have your ABS module rebuilt try modulemaster.com they do it for about $200 I believe. I got mine fixed because a friend of mine removed them and soldered some loose connectors together. All it cost me was a case of beer! It worked for my car just a suggestion for you guys. My ABS Module was a Bosch 5.3. Hope this helps!
