Well--- if you like

Keep in mind that it may be okey & just
doing it's job & there may be other reasons
you got the code

I would have a repair shop check the other possiblities

Make sure that you tell them your not there to install
parts based on any codes, you want it diagnosed, not
codes read & parts installed ,you can do that

any way to check sensor before replacement?

  • Anonymous Nov 28, 2012

If you have reference manuals like factory ones or the data base a repair shop has, then you can use an oscilloscope. You sort of in a bad place & i don't have any more to tell you on the spec or wire colors etc to test

As I said repair shops have data bases they subscribe to & all vehicles have factory manuals. Ask a dealer who the publisher is

07 mini change the cam sensor and timing code keep come back on saying timing to far advance

possibly not the sensor but the hydraulic adjuster that controls the cam timing
the cam sensor reports the cam position in relation to engine rpms and the ECM adjusts the cam position by the hydraulic servo / solenoid to the preset cam position for that rpms
I suspect that the problem will be in that servo / solenoid

Camshaft position sensor correlation bank 1 code

timing belt is off by a tooth or two. you probably didn\'t have to replace the coolant sensor; that code sets whenever the sensor is disconnected and the ignition is turned on; and it needs to be reset by disconnecting the battery or with a code reader. anyway, the crank/ cam sensors are out of sync. if you\'ve got the twin cam engine, they are a royal pain to get the belt to lay properly on the two cams.

My 2002 pt cruiser died while I was driving first the oil light came on then it just died! I just had the oil changed 3 days prior to it dying some of the codes I received were 0340 1684 1685...

P0340 is cam position sensor. P1685 is for the key(has a chip in it) P1684 is battery has been disconnected. If the engine will still crank then codes P1684 & P1685 are probably old codes. So if the car will still crank, lets forget about those codes and focus on P0340 A bad cam position sensor will cause the engine to die and not allow it to start back up. Replace the cam position sensor and clear the code and the car should start up.

Need to know what dodge codes P0325, P0344 & P0340 mean

0325 knock sensor
0344 cam position sensor intermittent
0340 cam position sensor failure

I would replace the cam position sensor from the codes you provided. The knock sensor
would most likely be related to the sensor failure.

Is there any way to clean oxygen sensors to make em last longer? 1998 isuzu amigo 2.2l 5spd check engine light is on 5 codes come up on obd 2 reader: p0134 po135 po342 p0134pd p0135pd what do they mean ? i...

if the wires are not damaged , washing them in vinegar to remove the exhaust build up on the sensor tip sometimes helps
code p 0134 refers to heated oxygen sensor (HO2S) 1 bank 1 --no activity detected ===causes--- wiring open circuit ---heating inoperative ---HO2S
it also refers to oxygen sensor (O2S)--no activity detected ====causes --wiring ---O2S
code p 0135 refers to HO2S 1 bank 1--heater control -circuit malfunction===causes ---fuse ,wiring ---HO2S---ECM
code p 0342 refers to camshaft position (CMP) sensor A , bank 1---low input ===causes ---wiring short to ground -- CMP sensor ---ECM

oxygen sensors have delicate wiring in the harness so they are easily damaged when the correct sensor tool is not used in the installation or removal process or the wires are pulled when disconnection the connection plugs

Jaguar xj 40 sovereign 1994 error code 17

I'm not a Jag expert, but error code 17 is:
P0017 Crankshaft Position - Camshaft Position Correlation (Bank 1 Sensor B)
Additional infomation on and cause and possible solutions are here:
http://www.obd-codes.com/p0016
Basically, it looks like you have timing issue. Could be the cam or crank sensor or the timing belt.
The P0017 code would imply that you have at least two cam sensors (V6 or V8). The computer thinks that the B sensor cam is out of time with the other cam and the crankshaft. Depending on the cost and location, you might try changing the cam sensor first. The cost to check or replace the timing belt is probably going to be painful.
