Question about Subaru Forester

I Have a 2000 2L forester. The clutch pedal seems to have lost pressure at the top and is failing to return on its own at times. Have replaced master and slave cylinders any ideas on where I go next p

Clutch also seems to only have pressure at bottom with what seems to be spring pressure only at top.

SOURCE: Bleeding clutch slave cylinder

i think youre doing the right thing. they are very stubborn to bleed because the hyd. line goes up high across back of engine before droppiing back down to slave cyl., trapping air. could try to gravity bleed by opening bleeder at slave, cap off of master cyl, full with fluid then it may start to come out after a bit. then try your process again. or can try to bleed at connections further up the line, working your way back to bleeder. hope this helps. be patient.

You've replaced the master, the slave, now I would check to see if the throwout fork will move by hand. If you can move the fork by hand I would say that your pressure plate and or throwout bearing are worn out. First try to just gravity bleed the system. If that doesnt work, it may be time for a clutch, pressure plate, and bearing. The pressure plate spring pushes the pedal back up and depending on how many miles and driving habit those little arms on it break off and just wear out. I hope this helps you.

Did you bleed the system? When you replace the the master and/or slave cylinder you have to bleed the system just as you would with brakes. There is a bleed screw on the slave cylinder. Open the bleed screw, have a helper depress and hold the clutch pedal down.Tighten the bleed screw, then release clutch. Repeat this procedure until you have removed all air from the system and the clutch pedal is firm. Keep an eye on the fluid level to avoid sucking air into the system. If you have done this, remember there is a possibility that the master or slave cylinder is defective.

If you mean you step on the clutch, put transmission in gear and release clutch with no engagement (pedal returns to top position) there is a good chance your clutch disc or pressure plate, or both are worn out and need replacing.
If your clutch pedal is going to the floor and not returning there could be a leak in the system, a bad clutch master cylinder or a bad slave cylinder on the transmission. Check the fluid level in the clutch master cylinder. If it is low or empty you have a leak or component failure. Visually inspect clutch master, line, slave cylinder for fluid leaks. replace as needed. If hydraulics are o.k., suspect clutch disc/pressure plate.

Replaced slave cylinder and 2' of line


There is still air in the system or you have a faulty clutch master cylinder. Try disconnecting the line at the master cylinder and place your finger over the hole in the cylinder to act as a non-return valve, have someone gently press the pedal and if you cannot get pressure there and a suction when the pedal is released then replace the master cylinder as there is a blockage in the return and compensating ports.

The clutch master cylinder must have gone out, the seals in it have failed. The clutch master cylinder (next to the brake master cylinder) gives you hydraulic pressure so the clutch pedal can operate the clutch.
You can buy a new clutch master, a rebuilt unit, or yours can be rebuilt with new seals. Save time and money and buy a rebuilt or remanufactured unit. Once installed, you bleed the system down at the clutch slave cylinder, mounted on the transaxle.

My 1994 ford rangers clutch pedal just lost all pedal


There are two types of clutch actuators. (Mechanical & Hydtraulic)
A. For mechanical type,- Check the clutch cable as
this could be cut from wear and tear. This is easy
to replace. You can find this connected to the
pedal and the clutch lever near the transmission.
B.For hydraulic operated - Check the level of the
hydraulic oil at the cylinder of the hydraulic
actuator under the hood. This actuator is
directly connected to the pushrod driven by the
pedal. If the actuator is leaking, you have buy
a repair kit (Hyraulic clutch repair kit for Ford
Ranger 1994 MOdel.) These items must be
repaired to activate your pedal.

I have A 1998 FORD RANGER EXT. CAB W/ 6 CYL.- 4.0 RECENTLY LOST PEDAL ON MY CLUTCH. REPLACED MASTER CYLINDER, SLAVE CYLINDER, AND THE CLUTCH PACK, HAVE FLUID THROUGH BLEEDER VALVE ON THE SLAVE BUT CAN NOT...


Take the top off the master cyl and slowly very slow push in on the clutch and watch for any bubbles comming up.Replace the top and pump pressure and bleed at the master direct by using the lines for bleeders.

96 pathfinder clutch pedal has lost pressure,


usually when this happen you lost fluid pressure look for a fluid leak at the clutch master cylinder under the hood ,it should be by the brake master ,it has a small plastic tank on top with a black rubber cap or underneath on the transmission there is the clutch slave cylinder it will have a small 2 inch rod that pushes the clutch fork ,look for the rubber boot on it ,see if there is fluid coming out of it ,also follow the clutch fluid lines maybe somthing has damaged one and its leaking !
