Check Engine light comes on and off periodicaly. If my Power Steering pump is going out will this cause it to do that???

Possible.
The power steering may have a switch on it for a variable steering rate. The switch itself could be faulty. A friend of mine had a service engine light due to the faulty switch on his Dodge pickup. His did not have a bad pump. If there is a fault in the variable steering rate system that may give you the feel of a bad pump (unless you know the pump is going out for sure)

Since your check engine light has been on, go to a local auto parts store and most will hook up a code reader for free to see what codes may be stored.

Power steering pump replaced and now squealing sound. Auto shop says bearing "all of a sudden" went out. I'm disgusted...

The power steering pump comes with a new pulley and bearing. Which bearing is going bad? If it's the PSP they should cover it. Have them pinpoint the bad bearing with a mechanic's stethoscope. Mostly idler pulleys go bad but they need to pinpoint it and not just take a shot at which one is bad. I know it's disgusting but cars are a bad expense and once they are a certain age become a money pit.
Good luck and I hope this helps.

Power areering compart makes unusual noise

low on power steering fluid,...put some in and turn the steering wheel back and forth to purge out air,...you should notice the noise going away,..as you do this. or the fan belt is loose,..check this first,...i believe there is a tensioner for the belt that is adjustable on your car,..some though are pre-set,....check that tension though,....it should be rather tight,.....one belt for everything too,....remember, tension before fluid. if none of this is problem, i know alot of G.M. vehicles have things that go bad faster than other vehices, so check out steering rack too, could be bad,...who knows why,...my opinion, a rack should never wear out.

My power steering is hard to turn what might be the problem its is chevy lumina 98 car

It could be various things.
Low steering fluid
Dirty steering fluid
Bad steering pump
Loose or missing belt
Bad steering box
Air in the steering system

I would check what you know how to check. If they're okay, have a mechanic check the rest.

How do you know if your power stearing pump is going bad on a 1998 ford expedition

When the power steering pump is going bad, you will be hearing a humming sound when you turn the steering while on idling and while driving at high speed.

At situations like this no repair can be done. Replacement is the recommended solution when you got a bad power steering pump.

Good luck and rate this.
