Question about 1995 Ford Escort

How do I repair a loose 1995 Ford Escort stabilizer bar?

I got an oil change and was told that my engine sway bar was loose. I'm not sure how to go about repairing that. It is just a matter of tightening the bushings or could there be more to it like replacing bushings and/or bolts? I am going to have my husband look at it. Any input would help. Thank you.

Get under it & you will see the issue with the stabilizer links

They only last about 6 to 8 years

May be able to get the bolt & bushing kit from auto parts store

Easy job---wrench & a socket

Most definately some bushing. Just check all of them, make sure all the bolts are tight. Jack the car up and get underneath it and start wiggling the suspension. Grab the wheel and shake it. Try to find the corner or side of the vehicle that the sound comes from.

SOURCE: 1995 Ford Taurus stabilizer bars cause rear end of car to ''sway''.

If you are any kind of car savy then you can do this yourself. Go to your local parts store and buy the stabalizer link kits. The stabalizer links are located behind the tires and bolt to the struts at the top and the stabalizer bar on the bottom. You don't need any special tools for this project and the stabalizer bars will cost you anywhere from 30-65 dollars a piece.

How much to change a oil pan gasket for 2001 grand prix 3.8 gt

If you want to repair the oil pan I would also check lower engine mount for leaking oil and cracks in anti sway bar near fitting's. This due to engine mount is oil filled. OEM sway bar is made of tubular steel and they crack easy. Replacement sway bar is solid steel. Here's the kicker. When they pull the lower frame to service oil pan. The engine mount and sway bar are attached to that frame. A honest mechanic should only charge for parts ($35 for mount and $100 for sway bar) and maybe a extra hour. My mechanic did all in 5 hours. FYI gasket is only $35 bucks. Good luck

Ford escort when strts blows blue smoke

Most generally when an engine smokes on start up it is a sign of worn valve guide seals. If this engine has over 150,000 miles on it and/or it has ever been overheated it is very possible that the valve guides themselves may have escessive clearance and are the cause of the valve seal leak. These vehicles have a history of cylinder head problems and if this is determined to be the problem, the only true repair for it is to have the cylinder head rebuilt or replaced. This process can cost upwards of $900.00 to $1,200.00 to do so you might just put up with the problem until it become unbareable. Always be sure to keep the engine oil full and changed on regular interval of 3 mos/ 3,000 miles and use Lucas oil stabilizer to help minimize the oil useage .
