Hello Carl, Yes, I have seen this. New torque converters are balanced before they leave the factory. I think yours slipped past Quality Control. Did they replace the flex plate at the same time? Flex plates are also balanced. Maybe that is your vibration. Either way, the repair shop should redo the job right for free. Good luck. Let us know.

My nieces 04 taurus needed the dual converter Ypipe replaced. after installing it and a test run the converter at the front of the car was fire red hot. so i thought okay the muffler is clogged from b

Generally a red converter is a damaged converter, the honeycomb structure inside it is damaged and plugging itself up. This can happen even with new ones if it got banged around before installation during shipping etc.... If TPS was causing it, by inducing and bad fuel mixture, you would expect both converters to get red hot. May not be converter, but I would take it back off and see if it rattles when shaken. Good luck.

How to repair p0420

This is a code for catalytic converter low efficiency. Usually, this code points to a bad catalytic converter but not always... since the rear (downstream) oxygen sensor could be bad (this is the O2 sensor after the catalytic converter). The oxygen sensors and circuits need to be tested to verify defect is actually the converter and not a sensor or circuit problem

After replacing a bad converter in the exaust I test drove the 98 bravada and when it shifted out of first I heard a bang and now I have no reverse and no secund. What most likely happened to the trans?

are you talking about replacing a CATALYTIC converter? If so, that would have nothing to do with a trans problem like you are describing-your symptoms point to a bad TORQUE converter or possibly a shift solenoid, but check your trans level first.

I got my codes pulled at a local auto parts store and it said both O2 sensors were bad. Replaced them reset the computer and the light came back on. It gave the same code with the same problem.

The catyiletic converter are getting plugged, most likely. When converters start to plug it raises the exhaust temp and causes the O2 sensor to trip a code. I had this happen with a Dodge Intrepid and Suburban.
