Sounds like alternator overcharging due to faulty regulator, however if all this is OK then there must be some really bad earth problems on said vehicle. check voltage of battery while engine running. 13 volts to 14.5. any higher will cook battery. Lights blowing a good sign of earth. check earth from neg on battery to both the body and engine. Verry important that they are good contacts

SOURCE: warning light on dash says headlamps not leveling

There is an issue with the height control sensor on the Prius product. Is it still under warranty? If not, go back to the dealer and tell them that you want scheduled to see the District Service and Parts Operations Manager. When you meet with him/her, explain the situation, and the costs involved. He/she has the ability to grant "goodwill" assistance, and possibly help you out on the repair, with Toyota participating in some of the costs.
Can't hurt to try. More often than not, the DSPOMs are very flexible, and like to promote customer satisfaction.

SOURCE: 2004 Hyundai Elantra problems after replacing alternator

Sound to me like some wires were either disturbed or crossed and are shorting out maybe when you replaced the alternator?Maybe have a look at the alternator connections again and make sure everything is correct and tight and that the new alternator is the right one for your car.Other than that its a case of tracing the wires from the alternator to the fusebox to find whats blowing your fuse.

SOURCE: car alarm randomly goes off

there is a hood switch located at front passenger side under hood. check to make sure the plunger at hood is pushing the switch completely down. sometimes there may be just enough clearance that a strong wind will set the alarm off.

I have a Mazda 121 that wont start, I have replaced all the fuses under the bonnet, But when the battery was reconnected the 80 fuse blew straight away... Would the problem be the relay

Unlikely a relay which would have to be very seriously kaput to cause a fuse to blow and even if it was that bad it is only a slim possibility.a fuse would blow.

Clearly there is a short circuit somewhere on one of the circuits protected by that fuse. Check in the vehicle handbook what circuits are supplied by that fuse and begin disconnecting until the fuse goes away.
To save spending money on lots of fuses for testing a headlamp bulb can be connected across the fuse contacts to monitor progress. A short circuit will cause the bulb to be full brightness and when it dims or goes out you have found the faulty circuit.

Alternatively a couple of wires can be fixed to a spare MCB from a consumer unit if you have such a thing...

2003 Hyundai tiburon power window problem. Power windows stopped working.. While in the down position. Replaced the blown fuse and it blew out right away. Any ideas what might be wrong? TIA

You have either a short in the wiring (check the bundle that passes into the door from the vehicle), a bad motor, or something preventing the window from going up (binding linkage or window in the track). You'll have to remove the door panel to check the latter two.

00 Hyundai sonata done fine everyday until this morning when it wouldn't start or turn over. Bought a new battery still won't start there is a short somewhere cause I tried to change my radio yesterday but...

If the battery is holding a charge then the alternator is bad. If the battery is losing charge and not starting then you may have a bad ground cable shorting out the battery. Grounds close the circuit loop in electric current a short will cause the battery to discharge.

Did you disconnect/reconnect battery? Do you have power? Are all the drive belts properly routed and tightened? Is coolant/water levels full? How bad did the truck overheat before you changed the water pump? If the truck was running fine before you changed the water pump, then double check that you properly reinstalled and reconnected all components you removed to gain access to the pump. Make sure your battery connections are secure and properly charged. If you didn't disconnect the battery when replacing pump, it's a possibility at some point you could have shorted the battery to ground and blew a fuse. Check all of your main fuses, then check all other fuses.

Otherwise, even if you installed a bad water pump, it has nothing to do with truck turning over. The only possibilities are that engine froze before changing pump, drive belts not properly reinstalled/secured, components not properly reinstalled or connected, or battery shorted and blew a fuse, or fuses. Let me know how it goes.

2001 Elantra Voltage Spike

Sounds like you got a bad rebuilt alternator. I'd bring it back to where you got it from and if they have a way of bench testing it, then have them do that or just replace it.

2001 chevy silverado 1500 v8 battery drain after sits for 1or2day

, do a simple test on the charging system...check battery voltage. should be 12v or better. start engine & check volts at idle, no accessories on. volts should read 13.5 -14v. Turn on all accessories(including headlamps on high) volts should drop slightly but should not creep down. Definitely not below 12.5. If voltage drops lower than 12.5, the regulator (in the alternator) is not working. either change regulator or change entire alternator. Alternator drive belt should have sufficient tension so that alternator cannot be turned easily by hand. If it can, check belt tensioner.

Alot of systems dont have a battery listed for 2001 hyundai sonotas so they will give you what "fits". These can touch metal parts of the car and ground the battery to the car. It will act like alternator problem and eventually kill the alternator because its overworked. I had this problem. Walmart and Advance gave me wrong batteries. I didnt know until I took it to the dealer.
