SOURCE: engine light, how you tell if

By a cheap OBD2 (95 or newer) scanner (Kragen auto) and retrieve the fault code(s), if it is a 1995 or newer many of the basic codes are common to all cars, reference this code to a repair manual at your local libary or go on line and type in the fault code, many times an explation and common parts that fail to set the code will be posted, remember the code tells what system is at fault, it can be wiring or a hard part like an O2/Cat sensor or the power train control module to name a few.

SOURCE: remove rear door panel on x type jaguar

You'll need to remove screws that are by the door handle, arm rest, under door and side of door and then gently pull back on the panel as there will also be retaining clips attached and you don't want to break them. If needed, you can pull back the weather seal (can't reuse it, but it's not that important) and you will be able to access everything inside the door

SOURCE: Evac code on engine light

Any aftermarket cap will be sufficient. You can purchase a Mopar cap that is the original cap replacement from the dealer, but it is not necessary.

My gas cap appears new, but doesn't seem to screw on right, check engine light is on

make sure you have the right gas cap for you car, next check for rust on the fuel filler neck threads as this can cause the cap not go on properly.

Why does the gas cap light go on and off when gas cap is on tight? I made sure it clicked on tight.

Possibly a bad cap sensor. Is the cap a factory cap or after market? Look where the cap screws in and see if there is something resembling a button or tab. It could be jammed and a few flicks may free it up. I know fords also have problems with their door sensors and the way to solve that was spraying the latch with WD40 and slamming the door. You can try spraying some WD40 or similar penetrating oil on the threads of the filler neck and screwing the cap in and out a few times.

Where is the gas cap release button inside my 1991 Jaguar?

Hi,

Open your trunk lid and on the left hand side (the side of the fuel filler cap) there should be a label that says manual fuel door open. The switch is white and close to the top right by the fuel filler cap on the inside of the trunk. You may have to pull back the carpeting a little to find it as it might be tucked behind. Give it a pull and the fuel door should open.

Best of luck .

Z4 2003 checked engine light came on.went by auto zone code was 1447 any help

Quite often this code will appear due to improper seal on gas cap. Clean it well especially seal "O" ring and threaded part where it screws into filler pipe, add a little wipe of vaseline to "O" ring surface, and see if that doesn't cure it. Did you notice it soon after getting gas? Usually that's the case, but if that fails I'd try a new cap before spending big money on other new parts.

My gas cap on my 2000 E320 is stuck. I cannot removed the cap to refuel. It turns but just clicks and will not come off.

The only thing I can think of - is try to pry off the outer black part that is spinning..
If you can pry it off - you shouldbe able to turn in then.. This will ruin the cap - so have a new replacement cap ready..
