Does vehicle have a "CHECK ENGINE" lamp lit when running? if so you can pull a code that may be helpful in this problem. with the key in OFF position, roll it to thr RUN position (not start) 3 times ending in the run position, if you do this, the code or codes will be displayed in the odomerter area.

SOURCE: 98 dakota engine dies
timing chains either go out or not go out, there is no such thing as an intermittent problem with a timing chain, what about the ignition module? it is sensitive to heat, and like the crank and cam sensors can cause your kind of problem. U did not mention fuel pressure either, electric fuel pumps can stop from heat when they get near the end of there service life (100,000), this is even more common if the fuel tank is run below 1/4 tank allot, this overheats the pump in the tank because it is not covered in gas, that is how it is cooled.

There is a ridge that the brake shoe is grabbing against. Look for the little slot at the bottom of the drum and turn the adjuster either upwards or downwards...turning the drum to see when the drumm rotates. These get "stuck" very often. You just need to pop that thing off.
True fact here. You're gonna have to knock that thing off. Honestly, when you put the new shoes on, it will not be hard like it is taking off.
Good luck and post with other questions if you have them.
