To start the Journey when the key fob battery is dead, use the fob itself by pushing the start button with the end of the fob opposite the emergency key. There is apparently some kind of proximity chip in the fob that, upon contact, will allow the vehicle to recognize the correct fob is present, even with a dead battery.

I just changed the battery in my fob for 2011 Journey Crew, with the battery removed ( from fob ) I did start my car by pushing the start button whith my fob... so the theory is tested and true.... also the battery you'll need is CR2032 available everywhere... and removing the battery will NOT remove the programming of your fob ( also tested )... so no need to visit the "steelership" Hope this helps....

Will the work on trunk? I wonder if key has been changed out. When power goes out in my SUV doors still open. Only other way I know is to jimmy the lock with coat hanger or something.
