Blower squeals when van is turned on, not much heat comes out

It's been squealing for a while but used to stop after a bit, now it doesn't stop. Not enough comes out to defrost or really heat the van.

Thanks! So strange but my new Chevy Express with 20,000 miles started having the same problem as my 1997 Astro with over 200,000 miles- still under warranty so I took it to the dealer. We have a lot of oak and hickory trees and that means lots of squirrels and chipmunlks. They've been storing the nuts in the fan cage and that's what caused the problem.

Toyota Tercel belts are squealing

I have been having the same problem with the alternator belt squealing, most noticeably, when using the heater fan , accelerating, turning the headlights on. I have a 1997 Toyota Tercel CE 1.5L 4cyl with no A/C. I just tightened the belt tight enough that there is no give to the belt and it does not squeal anymore.

I also used a Goodyear Gatorback from Napa belt which seems to be nice and quiet when tight enough.

you need to check the front brake pads to see if the warning tab is touching the rotor ,this will squeal if the pads get worn out before it goes metal to metal, and if that is ok the only thing i would think of is the wheel bearing,

Squealing sound every time I start my van

you need to adjust the alternator belt, do adjustment a little bit tightening a bit. this will solve the problem. Or just change a new belt if the belt has crack.

Loud squealing noise

The noise is most likely the serpentine belt. Check it's condition and that of the belt tensioner. It sounds like the belt is slipping, causing the squealing noise u describe. As the belt warms up, it's getting a better 'grip' and the noise stops. Turning on the heat also turns on the a/c in newer cars, this added drag on the belt (one more component to turn, the a/c compressor) would explain why it happens when u turn on the heat. Is the belt original? If yes, it's time to change it, and check the belt tensioner to make sure it's doing it's job of keeping the belt snug on all the pulleys. Let me know how u make out.
