Underneath the cowl cover, where the wiper motor is, there is a nut that goes on the back. Check and make sure it's still there. If it's not, save yourself time and aggravation and take it to a garage. I had the same thing happen to me, and after scraping my wrists up pretty good from digging under the cowl cover, I got it back on but the tab that tells the wipers where and when to stop was broken. I hear that's a pretty common thing. A service tech will have to reset the timing and/or replace that tab.

I have a 2006 cobalt and i just recently had the ignition recall fixed thinking it would solve my problem. When it gets below freezing outside it tends to cause it to kill the engine. It cranks right up...

You know about OBD Codes-so you have to retrieve
them, look them up & component test using them,to find
a problem

Your getting something on reduced engine power,so you
know the system with the possible fault & if you had the
factory diagnostic manuals, you could test, to find that problem

Need a professional to find the issues

Problem with the wiper on passengers side

It is possible that the wiper linkage has failed. It will be necessary to do some disassembly to gain access to the wiper mechanism to find out what has happened.

Remplace a wiper transmission on a 2005 cobalt

Be careful, because the cold really could crack that plastic cowl.... that being said, it isnt too hard of a job.

Take the wiper arms off. 13mm IIRC and ease & coerse them off. A little force may be necessary, but dont overdo it.
There are 3-4? push pin retainers and 2 screws IIRC and the antenna to remove the cowl.
From there you will get the idea. Unplug the wiper motor, unbolt the trans, and go from there.

2006 cobalt wipers dont move. but the moto is running, so how do i get to the wiper rod or motor section to tighten nuts or replace motor at please! please send a pictures etc. too me too. thankyou..

I would first try to tighten the wiper arms first where the arms bolt to the rods at the cowl remove the plastic caps and tighten the 13mm nuts that hold them down then you might need to adjust them if they wipe past the windshield
Good luck

The motor runs but the wipers do not move

i just had this same problem with a cobalt. there is a nut. 8mmx1.25 it holds the wiper arms to the motor. you can hear the wiper motor turning, but the wiper arm if you look through the cowel, will not be moving. the best repair is dont put the nut that was on there back on if you can even find it. once you know you have it lined up, so the wipers will work properly, put some lock tight on the nut, and use a 8mmx1.25 nut which i know advanced carries, it also has a nylon piece that will hold the nut on.
