SOURCE: Replace Head Gasket

It's not your head gasket that's it the problem, it's more likely your rings and bores are worn.

A birthday with new rings and bigend bearings is a good fix. You will need a gasket kit, some sealant and a manual you can find here:

What happened when i put my thermostat on upside down

the car will over heat
the gasket will not seal properly
the bulk (BULB section) has to face the water in the head/block
this allows the body to fit in a recess in the housing and allow the gasket to seal properly

No compression in any cylinders, could I have in upside down? put head gaskets

Compression can be lost with wrong valve adjustment. I suppose that you tightened the cylinder head according to manufacturer's specifications, but did you re-adjust the valve clearance?

Losing coolant with no visible leaks 2005 jeep liberty engine 3.7

Did you listen to the radiator too see if it gurgles when filling? When filling the gurgling tells you there are no air or coolant leaks in the engine much the same as an upside down soda bottle gurgles when turned upside down. Also look in the radiator too see if bubbles are coming from the bottom of the radiator while running at normal operating temperature with the cap off.? If you see bubbles coming from the bottom, you have a leaking head gasket. This can and will happen without the coolant leaking into oil, and without oil leaking into coolant. The gasket leaks right near the cylinder and sucks the coolant into the cylinder on the intake stroke, and blows it back into the radiator on compression stroke. This is why the coolant bubbles up from the bottom. The coolant that gets sucked in gets vaporized and comes out the exhaust. Loosing coolant ?? This is where it is going if no leaks under or around around the vehicle.Good luck I hope this solves your problem. Please post a solved comment on fixya, so I receive credit for the solve.

1994 Acura Legend. My mechanic just fixed the blown headgaskets and now the vehicle has an up and down idle problem. What could be the cause?

You may want to take it back to him/her and make sure that gasket was installed properly and not cracked or upside down. With you just having the head gasket replaced it possible that gasket is leaking air somewhere and your engine is loosing pressure. You may want to also ask him/her if he fooled with the throttle body at all when replacing the head gasket. I would definitely inquire with your mechanic about this.

How do i tell if the heads creaked on a 91 celica

a cracked head or blown head gasket, will cause your vehicle to have a miss in the cylander where the crack is or where the gasket is blown. you can also see coolant leaking if the gasket is blown. you can also see water in the oil,and white smoke come from the exhaust.
to tell for sure that the head is cracked, and not just a blown gasket is to remove the head. you will instantly see if the gasket is blown. if its not, then turn the head upside down and look at the small space between the valves,as this is where 99% of cracks occur.
