SOURCE: 1998 ford explorer won't start. driving down

Hello, This problem could be from the Inertia sensor. There is a Reset button either behind a plastic panel in the rear cargo area or under the dash by the kickpanels. The part is suppose to disconnect the fuel pump in case of a crash. A small bump will sometimes trip it.
If you have any Starting fluid, you can test whether this is a fuel source problem. Or listen to the vehicle when you turn on the key, the fuelpump should run briefly. If you do not hear anything, then the fuelpump may be shut off.

SOURCE: ford focus won't turn over ,was fine this morning parked up now won't start getting whinning sound from side of engine

If the temperature is low, then the engine might have struck up. You need to give heat and then try starting. If you still face the problem, then open the front and check if any wires have been cut off or else call or an mechanic to solve the problem,

Thanks

Check the battery like this:
Turn on the headlights, then try to start the car.
If the headlights do not dim or go out, then the battery is likely ok.
Check that the battery cable plus post, goes to the starter, Minus post to a good ground, like the engine.
If wiring is ok, then look at the starter solenoid for a good connection, and proper voltage at the starter.
Problem is most likely the Solenoid's bendix gear or starting relay, Have someone bang on the starter while you try to start the car. This usually works by dislodging the bendix gear..
Hope this helps.

What is the proper cca for a 1998 navigator !

if you got all the bells and whistles, 880 CCA

the standard is 650 CCA but it doesn't cost that much difference since that ford/Lincoln model takes the same size battery (type 65)

98 navigator lincoln will not idle

I'm going to assume the check engine light is not on, otherwise you would have checked the computer for trouble codes by now.
The computer adjusts idle speed by controlling the air going into the throttle body by way of the idle air control valve. The valve could be faulty, or the throttle body could be dirty.

sounds like you are talking about fuel lines.. are you sure you have the lines on the right places? some fuel lines will interchange on a car causing the fuel to be running the wrong direction...

1998 lincoln navigator cranks and runs for about a minute and then it starts to sputter like its about to shut off! It will continue to do this but if i press the gas it will shut off! Whats the problem?

It sounds as though the TPS Sensor has some
effect on the issue

Iam not suggesting you install ANY parts

I would test the Throttle Position Sensor
I'am not sure a volt meter will pick up a problem
and you won't have a scope, which is what I use.

You may have a Pedal Actuator with switches,
on the gas pedal mount,I don't know. The newer
Navigators & other Fords are drive by wire.

The sputtering tells me you need to be more
aware of other issues as well

Spark Plug - mileage
Vacuum Leaks
Evap System- Leaks
O2 Sensors
Dirty MAF Sensor

You may just need to work on it
more than just drive it, until you have these
problems.

Trying to be kind here,but
most people just drive till they quit

98 lincoln navigator loud noise, shaking, high rpm at idle, drive

I don't know how much oil you had to put in but it sounds like you have maybe more than opne issue and both sound major. One is engine reving and speed not picking up sounds like trans problem. Two the engine shaking and making noise and being run low on oil leans toward possible engine damage. If your mechanicly inclined check all fluids and when checking trans fluid smell it. If it smells burnt the trans has been damaged. Check oil pressure and make sure coolant is full. You may have to take it into the shop.

My 1998 lincoln navigator starts but shuts off emmediately, will only stay on if accelerating.

Most likely the throttle position sensor is bad. If it is idling weird and misfiring and barely running while accelerating, then the coil packs may be bad and you should check each cylinder for spark. Let me know if you have any more questions. Do check for vacuum leaks as well. Is your check engine light on? If so, you should have your engine codes read to pinpoint exact problem
