SOURCE: oil in water resovour vw 2002 passat

This is probably a head gasket problem and not an oil cooler problem.

The oil cooler is fairly easy to test.

Remove the cooler from the engine but do not disconnect cooling lines and then pressurize the cooling system. You can use a radiator test tool to put pressure on the cooling system and look for leaks. If it leaks, replace it.

You may also be able to bypass the oil cooler altogether if it leaks.

The head gasket is another story.

Get a 1/4" pipe to spark plug fitting and put a male air coupling fitting in it.

Then you can charge the cylinders with air from your compressor.

Make sure each cylinder that you test is at top dead center so that the valves are closed.

If air bubbles into your coolant, you found your problem.

If air leaks out your intake you have a bad intake valve

If air leaks out your exhaust you have a bad exhaust valve etc.

If you find this useful, please take the time to rate it.

replace your fuel filter first. If that does not do it, then try an air-flow meter. (if the check engine light is on it may be an airflow meter.

SOURCE: MISFIRING ON CYLINDER 1 VW POLO 1.4 3CYLINDER

I have changed a few cylinder heads under warranty for this type of problem. The exhaust valve guides wear, this causes the exhaust valve to seat badly, giving low compression. if one cylinder compresion reading is more than about 50 psi below the others, then this warrants head removal. It is quite a job, due to the fact that the camshft id chain driven. If you are up for it then once the head is removed, poor liquid into the exhaust ports and see if it leaks out through any of the exhaust valves.

SOURCE: 2002 VW Passat GLX AWD, stereo stopped working

HI,
Passats can be reset if the radio is pulled out and the fuse on the back is removed. Wait for 2 mins, reinsert the fuse and turn the radio on. If this doesn't work, please take it to the dealer for the unlocking of the code, for which he may charge you some fee.

Do let me know if it was helpful.

Regards
Kanu

95 vw passat ran fine and just stopped while driving. Now will not start at all and has fire and fuel. Any help?

Lets hope the timing belt did not break, if you have fuel and spark then i would say to check the timing belt. these cars when the timing belt pops or jumps the engine gets damaged, the pistons come up and hit the open valves.
the first step would be to do a compression test, if there are cylinders with low or no compression then you have a big problem, if the belt is easy to see which it is not as the front bumper and much more needs to be removed to replace it i would start with compression test.
when was the last time you had belt and water pump and timing components replaced ?

We just bought an 06 VW Passat 2.0 Turbo, after 200 miles it shut off while running down the interstate. The dealer stiffed us and said it wasn't covered. The timing belt appears to be good with no...

there must be some compression if the cam shaft is turning
indicates that the belt has broken or stripped off
I say some compression because if the cam shaft is turning then at least 2 pistons will be recording a pressure however low it may be
if as you say there is no compression ( a compression test has to be done to determine that) then that means that the valves are not opening or closing to get a compression stroke

1999 VW Passat 1.8 turbo Code #3 cylinder misfire. Replaced coil and all plugs, still have misfire...???

Coils and plugs are not the only things that can cause misfires. Misfires can be caused by vacuum leaks, low compression, faulty fuel injectors, clogged EGR ports (on vehicles with individual ports for each cylinder), blown head gaskets, burned valves...you can spend a LOT of money on parts by just going in and replacing things without diagnosing WHY the cylinder is misfiring.

Dose the coils on the passat differ from the coils on the golfs. What are the specifications on the coils of the passat 1.8 T 2002 MODEL

the passat uses coil packs one for each cylinder and the 2002 golf uses one coil pack that fires all cylinder and also not the same engine in 2002. now the 2000 vw golf with the 1.8 engine uses the same coils,so if its a 2000 vw golf with a 1.8 engine then yes you can use them they are exactly the same, hope this helps.

Cars

hey
If the car is running ok then you probably have either low catalyst efficiency or a faulty or dirty oxygen sensor.
If the car feels like it is losing a cylinder or two then you could have a faulty coil pack(s).
Either way, you need to have the codes read out to determine what the problem actually is before you start throwing parts and money at the car.
