Transmission solenoids are usually installed in a transmission valve body, Transmission Control Unit, or transmission control module. If you have a question about a specific Allison Transmission model, you should call Allison Transmission Here is the number for the Texas Distribution office 214-631-5370-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

SOURCE: trns shift problem

On chrysler product vehicles that use the electrical solonoids inside the trans oil pan can usually just be removed and cleaned and they will usually function correctly again. They have a tendency to get laquered up and stick if the trans fluid has not been serviced regurarly. This happenes from the neon all the way up to the dodge 3/4 ton pickups with the gasoline engines.

P0700 Transmission Control System Malfunction OBD-II Trouble Code Technical Description Article by Dale Toalston ASE Certified Technician Transmission Control System TCS Malfunction What does that mean? Many vehicles have a control module for the automatic transmission called a transmission control module (TCM). The engine control module (ECM) communicates with the TCM to monitor the automatic transmission for faults. If the TCM detects a fault in the automatic transmission and sets a transmission related fault code, the ECM is informed of this also and sets a P0700 in the ECM memory. This illuminates the Malfunction Indicator Lamp (MIL) to let the driver know there is a problem. If this code is present and the MIL (Malfunction Indicator Lamp) is illuminated that basically means there is at least one transmission code set in the TCM's memory. P0700 is an informational code only. It doesn't point to a direct fault in the engine, only a general fault in the transmission. More diagnosis is necessary to identify what the transmission fault is. This requires a scan tool that will communicate with the transmission module. Symptoms Symptoms of a P0700 DTC may include: Malfunction Indicator Lamp (MIL) illumination The transmission may exhibit drivability problems like slipping, etc. Causes More often then not, the cause of this code is that there is a transmission problem of some kind. The TCM detected the problem and set a code. P0700 means that a fault code is stored in the TCM. However this doesn't rule out the possibility of a failed PCM or TCM (unlikely). Possible Solutions For a P0700 the only real solution is to acquire a scan tool that will communicate with the transmission control module. Extracting this code from the TCM will be the first step in repairing the fault in the transmission. If the TCM compatible scan tool will not communicate with the Transmission Control Module then that is a good indication that there may be a fault with the TCM itself. P0700 DODGE - Transaxle Control System Malfunction. Tech notesP0700 is just and informative fault code that indicates a malfunction has occurred in the automatic transmission and the TCM has requested the PCM to turn on the Check engine light you must now have the dealer scan the TCM for more codes to resolve the problem.P1698 DODGE - DTC Detected in Companion JTEC Module, These codes are related and you need the dealer to scan the system.

What is the code p1684 and p700

The P1684 code means simply that the battery has been disconnected within the last 50 starts, You can effectively disregard this unless you know that to be false. Then it could be an indication of an impending battery failure. The P0700 code is more troublesome. I collected this information from another source:

What does that mean? Many vehicles have a control module for the automatic transmission called a transmission control module (TCM). Hope this helps!

I have a 2004 Chrysler 300m with a 3.5l engine and getting a 0871 and 0700 code.

Please don't forget to rate!

Trouble Code: P0871 (3.5L V6 VIN G Auto)
A/T O/D Pressure Switch Circuit Malfunction

Trouble Code Conditions:
Engine started; vehicle driven in a forward gear, and the PCM detected that the O/D Pressure Switch circuit indicated open or closed at the wrong time.

Possible Causes:

  • Related DTCs may be present
  • O/D pressure is incorrect, or internal transmission faults exist
  • O/D pressure switch circuit is open, shorted to ground or power
  • O/D pressure switch is damaged or it has failed
  • TCM relay power circuit to O/D switch is open (loss of B+)
  • Intermittent wiring or connector problems exist
  • PCM or TCM has failed

Trouble Code: P0700 (3.5L V6 VIN G Auto)
Automatic Transmission Control System Malfunction

Trouble Code Conditions:
Ignition on or engine started. The PCM received a message over the CCD Bus from the Transmission Control Module (TCM) that it had detected a problem and set a trouble code in memory.

Possible Causes:

  • The presence of this code means the TCM detected a problem
  • TCM related Sensor has solenoid is damaged or has failed
  • This code is for information only - check for other TCM codes
  • TCM or PCM has failed

Did you test the TPS ( throttle position sensor)?

The automatic transmission uses throttle position sensor to determine position and opening of throttle, and to decide when to shift into gear.
IF throttle position sensor is defective, the car may have problems shifting into one or more gears, and you may also get no error code from OBDII scanner.

The TPS is tested reading volts on the TPS contacts, while someone else from inside the car smoothly press the pedal.

If the TPS is bad, the voltage will not change smoothly, but there will be gaps and peaks in voltage.

If the TPS is ok, then the next step will be checking the transmission shift solenoid pack located in the valve body. This are tested measuring Ohms on solenoids, and cheching if they get powered. This is unlikely the problem, as you would get a P0700 code from TCM.

Finally the TCM (transaxle control module) may be faulty. This may also return no code, as the TCM will think it is doing its job. This fault is also rather uncommon, and can be tested reading voltages on TCM connectors to TPS.

At a glance, from your broad description, you have a faulty TPS.

1999 Dodge Stratus error code P1788

This code sometimes comes up when the transmission is not shifting in overdrive.

Here is some research that I did and this is wut I found

This code is set whenever in any forward gear with engine speed above 1000 RPM shortly after a shift and every minute thereafter

After a shift into a forward gear, with engine speed > 1000 RPM, the TCM (Transmission Control Module) momentarily turns on element pressure to the clutch that don’t have pressure. For this to be activated, the switch must be closed in order for the circuitry to be completed. If the pressure switch does not close 2 times the code sets.

POSSIBLE CAUSES

RELATED DTC’S PRESENT
TRANSMISSION FLUID LEVEL
INTERMITTENT WIRING AND CONNECTORS
TRANSMISSION CONTROL RELAY OUTPUT CIRCUIT OPEN
2/4 PRESSURE SWITCH SENSE CIRCUIT OPEN
2/4 PRESSURE SWITCH SENSE CIRCUIT SHORT TO GROUND
2/4 PRESSURE SWITCH SENSE CIRCUIT SHORT TO VOLTAGE
INTERNAL TRANSMISSION
TCM - 2/4 HYDRAULIC PRESSURE

My advice to u is get to someone who is experienced about this kind of technology in order for the problem to be rectified.
