Band adjustment, how many turns out on 1987 300zx


Transmission Bands are adjusted when you rebuild a trans

They do not wear enough to need adjustment

Two things happen

If you turn the screw the wrong way, parts fall inside the trans
& you can't get it back together

Next-- if you need to adjust the band or bands, it is time for a rebuild, as many many parts are worn, long before the slightest band wear.

How to rebuild a 1987 plymouth gran fury 2 barrel carburetor


First, you will need to get a rebuild kit for it. This contains gaskets and other bits that wear and need replacing on occasion. There will be a number on a tag or the carb body that the parts store will need to get the right kit. There's no point in trying to reuse the old gaskets, if you are going to try that, then don't waste your time rebuilding.

The kit will contain a sheet of paper whjich will give you an exploded diagram of all the parts in your carburator and where they belong. there will also be information on various settings for idle, choke, etc. Don't lose these sheets.

When you start to disassemble the carb, keep the old gaskets to compare with new ones. When you remove the idle screws, turn them in until they stop. Be gentle when you do this and count the number of turns. Write that number down, so when you put it back together you know where the idle setting is supposed to be. There will be extra gaskets in the kit and they will all be different. You must replace with exactly the same as what you took off. Also pay very close attention the how the choke linkage comes apart. It will go together more than 1 way so you can get it wrong. This will make the car act up or maybe not even start.

Soak the carb in a good quality cleaner and make sure everything is clean and all the lines are open before you start to reassemble it.Use your diagrams to make sure you put everthing back where it belongs, replacing with new parts when possible. Be very careful with the float measurement, it must be exact, close won't work.

This is going to take you several hours, so don't be in a rush.

How to rebuild a 22r carburetor


This Carb was using in Toyotas (i.e. 87 PickUp), according with this, check this removal ans installing ptocedure.

1 Disconnect the negative battery cable.
2 Loosen the radiator drain plug and drain the coolant into a suitable container.
3 Unscrew the mounting screws and remove the air filter housing. Disconnect all hoses and lines leading from the air cleaner.
4 Tag and disconnect all fuel, vacuum, coolant and electrical lines or hoses leading from the carburetor.
5 Disconnect the accelerator linkage from the carburetor. On cars equipped with an automatic transmission, disconnect the throttle cable linkage running from the transmission.
6 Remove the four carburetor mounting bolts and lift off the carburetor and its gasket.
Cover the manifold opening with a clean rag to prevent anything from falling into the engine.

7 Install the carburetor (with a new gasket), tighten the mounting bolts EVENLY in steps and reconnect all linkage.
8 Start the engine and check for any leaks. Check the float level.

clear an old table then cover it with old newspaper and start stripping ,use a compressor to blow the passageways out ,and take plenty of pics on your phone as you attempt to strip it so you can remember where they all go

Took apart carburetor and can not get it back together


Your best bet would be to go to the auto parts store and get a rebuild kit for your carburator. You can't reuse carb gaskets anyway and the kit will include a blow up diagram of the carb with the parts that need to be replaced and steps to make sure you have the proper settings inside.
Carburators are precise so all measurements they give you in that kit are exact.Take your time. If you took the idle screws out of the front be very careful when you put them back in. Just turn them until the stop, DO NOT tighten them after they stop on the seat.They are soft and will lose their shape, making it hard to properly adjust. Hope this helps and good luck.

there are a handfull of secrets to rebuild one of these. An ATSG rebuilding manual will give you nearly everything you need. The secrets usually aren't in the books though.
