My truck sputters when i hit rough roads and when i press the gas pedal fast it hesitates

I have replaced the coil, carb and various other parts. also when the truck is at an angle such as going uphill and tilted sideways it dies. i was told it might also be the computer module.

The cause of your Ford Ranger hesitating while pressing the gas pedal can be the fuel filter, change it first since its the cheapest, next would be bad spark plug boots cracked, or spark plug gaps to wide, then lastly dirty fuel injectors.-------------------------------------------autel ds708

P0016 usually indicates, Crankshaft and camshaft are out of sync, which will cause the symptoms you are experiencing. You can try replacing both crank and cam sensor, but no guarantees. On the other hand, a dealer should be able to test both those sensors before replacing them if they think one or more is defective, as they have been having some problems with transmission flex plates cracking and causing signal to be off, on crank sensor. The dealer can put the DRBIII scan tool on to sync it and check. If it turns out to be flex plate, ask dealer to go to bat for you with Chrysler on paying part of the repair, as it is becoming more common these days and they may just help out. If not, call owner relations at Chrysler yourself and ask them why they won't help when it's an obvious defect, but let dealer try first. Good Luck, keep me posted.

SOURCE: 1996 nissan altima engine stalls when going uphill

If you recently replaced the battery, you may need to reset the idle air control valve setting. This is done by removing the NEGATIVE battery wire from the battery while the vehicle is HOT. Then you must wait several hours for the vehicle engine to become cold. Next, once could, reconnect the negative cable. Start the vehicle, place your foot on the brake and imediately put the vehicle in drive. Stay in that situation until the vehicle engine bcomes hot to normal temperature range. This will be known by hearing the radiator cooling fan turning on. You must NOT use the airconditioner during this cause it will be on during the event. Once accomlplished place in park and allow the engine to cool, engine off. This resets the engine computer to tell the idle/load speed control valve to add air and resuling in additional fuel to the engine under various torque loads.

Sounds like the fuel pump is going out. Its inside the tank. But first see if the fuel pump is clooged. take it off and see if its plugged. Check fuel pressure if you can. should be 45-55 psi

SOURCE: rough idle, sputtering like its outta gas but it aint.

Could be a vacuum leak as it falls off under acceleration and does not play a part then. Check for broken or cracked hoses.....

Hesitating when hitting gas pedal

is there a check engine light on?

This may be as simple as a secondary ignition break down. Meaning the plugs, wires, or coil(s) may be worn out or leaking.

Pull a spark plug and see if it is worn out.

You can spray the wires and coil(s) with soapy water with the engine running. If the engine starts to run rough when you wet down the wires they need to be replaced. Same is true for the coil(s).

Let me know what you find. Thank you for using!

On my 1998 expedition my check enging light is on and its riding rough when I press the peddle to go it starts blinking but it does not do this every time but 9 times out of ten it does. Any reason for...

Possible Intermittent ignition coil failure!! very common on these vehicles. Typical issues from this is: Sputter/jerking when gas pedal is pressed, random stalls, poor gas mileage, power loss!! REPLACE all coils if this is the issue!!

Car dies-hard to start

EPC= electronic pedal control it is a sensor and is located in front of the brake pedal . Depress brake with one hand ,the sensor with the other and release fast. this should disengauge the EPC lock listen for a thunk made by the EPC lock disengaging.

Go to auto zone. They will use a code reader to help you find exact component or components having errors. If its not the EPC.
it sounds like your mass air sensor or the throttle control sensor may be bad. Your gas and air may not be mixing properly thus causing your car to sputter, hesitate, and idle rough. It could be some other thinks like a bad plug or wire etc. Good Luck hope this helps. Please rate me if this helps thank you.

Sputtering and hesitating

Try replacing the PCV valve, and spray the carb, or throttlebody, with a good carb and choke cleaner.
