SOURCE: We have replaced the coil pack 3 times and the pcm once and about every 6 months we get a code for misfire on cylinder # 1 and winds down to replacing the coil pack every 6 months. Have seen this befo

check out this tool. Brand new on the market and it quickly can diagnose a misfire from the plug or the coil pack. Here's their website

I replaced the coil pack to no avail. I also purchase a code reader while at the auto parts store. This device told me cylinder 3 was misfiring (P0303). I found that the spark plug wire had shorted out on the manifold sensor tubes. Replaced that wire and done.
I highly recommend keeping a code reader in your car tool kit. very useful.

did you replace only one spark plug? that can cause issues because of differences in resistances between cylinders. also, did the map code stay off after replacing

If your going to work on your own vehicles
without any test equipment ,you will have to buy
one new coil or use the one you put in #6 ,and put
what you thought was bad, back in it's hole.
Then you walk the new coil from cylinder to cylinder
until you get to the bad one
You have to drive 25 miles or more to heat up
the coils. Tough this time a year. Works best on
a 85 degree day.
Codes don't always tell you what to do or replace.
