You can not tell if it is a cracked block without taking the heads off. Most likely it is a bad head gasket.

How to tell if you have a cracked block are blown head

This may be impossible without disassembly. If you were lucky and the crack is external, you could observe where leak is, but internal only leaks can be from a blown head gasket, cracked head or cracked block. Most common is head gasket, next head, and last block. Since anyone of these can cause water to enter the oil circuit, or oil to enter water, I know of no way to tell which is bad without a teardown.

Vw bora v5 mixing oil with water at the expansion tank. what is the fault?

Most likely a cracked head. They are often difficult to see with the by eye and can be in places you cannot see. One thing though, do any of the head bolts extend into the water jacket? If so, when you install them you need to use a manufacturers recommended thread sealer on the bolts or water from the water jacket will wick up through the head bolt threads into the head itself.

How do i tell if my water pump is bad on 2001 dodge intrepid 2.7 ?

what is worries me is the fact that your oil level is over full. This is a sign that you are getting fluid into the oil system that you did not add, coupled with the fact that your car is overheating leads me to believe you might have a head gasket issue.

2005 touareg water in oil not head gasket; getting coollant error n=messages - fill it, only to get messages again about 4km later with coolant gone

water doesn't just evaporate it has to be leaking out somewhere, how do you know that the head gasket isn't blown ? it may be cracked or the engine block may be cracked or a seal is leaking, water doesn't disappear it has to be going somewhere, it might be a good idea to have the radiator pressure tested to find out just where the water is leaking from .....hope this helps.....cheers.

I have oil with water in my audi a4 1996

Hi,
When there is oil in the water, if you are sure of this, it can only be caused by two ways:
  1. You have a cracked engine block. This is a rare case, but presents itself more with modified cars that are being pushed to their limits. This would require your engine block to be remachined and repaired at a professional shop.
  2. The more likely solution, especially on a car that is 10+ years old, is a bad head gasket. The head gasket is a seal between your engine (with the oil) and your radiator fluid (which cools your engine, and contains water and/or antifreeze depending on how you keep it). This can be fixed a number of ways: You can try head gasket repair solution from a local auto store (though this is merely a temporary fix), or you can replace the head gasket with a lengthy DIY or bring it to a shop to do it.
Sorry it wasn't better news, but I hope this helps. If it does, please accept and rate the solution! You can leave a testimonial or contact me with any more questions you may have. Thanks for using FixYa!

Water is leaking out of my coolant container.car is overheating with less than 2 mins of driving

Need to seal the leak in the coolant container with epoxy or by replacing the coolant container.

Fill coolant system with 50/50 solution up to 2 gallons may be required to stop the overheating.

Don't drive an overheated engine.

Coolant overflowing out of expansion tank no boil no steam

As you've stated driving around town it's fine, and everything is working well. For the symptoms, there are 2 possible causes:
1. Your cooling fans are not working.
2. Your radiator needs to be replaced.
I'm sure you can determine which it is, and I wish you luck on your repair.
