Most likely the resister. Not very expensive part and should be easy to change out if you know where its located ( usually under the dash) You can buy a repair manual for your model at any parts store, and be sure to ask the parts guy if he knows where its located. he might just be able to save you the cost of the manual. Good luck with it.

Try the electrical connection from the blower motor in the cab before it goes through the fire wall, it can be just a loose or bad connection. I had the same problem with squeeling on low speed then it quit on low. I spread the forks on the connector and used a little electrical contact grease and all works great now. this was after i cleaned the connector because i had seen a little browning on the fork which meant that the connection was arcing from a bad or loose connection.

Its faulty blower motor resistor. The low and medium speed on blower motor is controlled by resistor and its actual speed is high.So because resistor is not working, blower motors actual speed which is high is working.

It can be faulty blower motor or faulty blower motor resistor. Get the blower motor inspected. If its faulty it has to be replaced.

SOURCE: Heater fan only works on high after replacement of heater core

It's very possible the fan motor has quit. The squealing noise is caused from motor bearing failure. As the bearings wear out or dry up the motor is harder to turn and require more current to run the motor. On lower speeds, the motor runs off a series of resistors that reduce the amount of voltage and current so the fan runs a lower speeds. If the bearings are worn, there is not enough voltage or current to turn the motor and that's probably the humming noise your hearing.
Good observation by the way.
Let me know.
regards,

SOURCE: i have a 1996 blazer 4x4. The heater fan is making

well the growling noise is more than likely a worn bearing in the blower motor it would be better to replace the whole motor, and on the fan speeds the blower motor resistor is the cheaper solution to take and more likely however if the resistor doesnt fix it then look at the control unit in the dash as the problem but like i said more than likely the resistor will fix the problem

I believe there are TWO fuses for the heater blower. One for the lower speeds and one for the high speed ONLY. REcheck the fuses or refer to the owner's manual for the location...

SOURCE: HEATER FAN CONTROL DOWN TO 2 SPEEDS

The control is not the problem. Your blower motor resistor is burnt out on two fan speeds.
This is a high failure rate item that the factory has redesigned at least twice for this concern.

it sounds like the heater switch itself is bad. I would change it.

In cold temp, heater motor do not run

you mean low heat. at all ducts with full fan speed and blows hard,
here is the correct order.
1: engine at 180F or more holding, a absolute must.
2: fan runs at full speed on HIGH, (sounds like it)
3: fan actual blows (felt) at full speed, to any vent, try all vents.
4: now heat, will happen, if not, the dampers are closed or wrong.
damper can be complex on newer cars,they have motor controlled damper servos';

is this just blower fan dead? problem. on high, if yes say so.

Fan control knob on a/c and heater will only run on high speed. 2003 dodge mini van

I replaced the fan module under the glovebox on my 2005 Town & Country last night. Mine would not shut off at all with key on. It only blew on high no matter where I set the switch. Mine also had the climate control which makes a difference. If it is not the auto climate control it is usually the blower resistor if the other fan speed selections don't blow at all except on high.

Heat/ac fan only blows on high

Check the heater control switch,,,,,and the number of wires at the heater motor....Some motors have more than one winding...in which case there will be three or more wires going into motor..there can be burnout in those windings and will require a new motor....check the plug which attaches to the motor....can be bad connection...or at the switch.....but if there is only two wires....then the heater switch uses resistors to slow down the different speeds...and direct connection for high speed....and the problem is definitely the switch...

probley the restor that gives the a/c heater fan motor its power for the low/ medeam speds has gone bad and onley letes it run on high speed because it gives the fan motor full battery voltage on high speed. it should be located in the heater box were the fan will blow air across it to cool it when it is in use GEORGE STIRBER DBA AUTO ENGINEERING

Possible solution is to check the fan speed switch. These go bad and won't change the speed/ or function in the lower speeds.

Heater blower only blows on low

This could be a few different things:

1.Check the power and ground connections on your blower motor, corrosion can cause high resistance and a slow blower speed.

2. Check your available voltage at the blower motor on the different settings. it should vary with high supplying 12volts, make sure to do this check with the blower motor still plugged in.

3. Connect the blower to a 12v power source and see if it runs at high speed.

If all else fails i would check your resistor pack, i would not suspect this because when it fails you usually just loose all speeds except for high, but it could happen.
