GO TO a auto-pars store and the OBDII is located insude the console door and is a black cover take it off and plug in a scan-tool and retrieve the P code (which means engine management) a lot of times it is an evap code but i am not positive and DONT REFUEL car with engine running this could send that code to ECU

This could be one of a number of problems, the check engine light can mean anything from a faulty sensor to much bigger things, i would suggest you take it to a autoshop and ask them to retrieve the ecu codes for you these will tell you what is wrong

Could be all sorts of things. If the timing belts have slipped, the engine will usually not start or run really rough. Could be the crank angle sensor (under the alternator, just above the main pulley).

If the belt has slipped, you can check by pulling the cam belt covers off. Usually its the LHS side belt that's jumped. The hydraulic tensioner sometimes works loose and detensions the belt. Rotate the engine till to top dead center on the pulley, and see if the cam pulleys are at the timing marks. If the belt has slipped, you WILL have bent valves.

There's several ways to improve engine performance.
You can change internal engine parts(crankshaft, camshaft, piston, rods, valves, gasket, block) the air intake(filter, piping) the exhaust, turbocharging (although i don't know how good it would be since it is an aspirated engine) and there are more.
This is something that requires money, time and expertise.
You can do some of the modifications by yourself, you can start by upgrading your air intake, but other modifications require engineering expertise to be sure what the engine can still handle and how can it be upgraded.

I think there is some problem with the starter of your car or any similar parts during a wash. Also check the spark plugs.

My check engine light comes on and a few seconds late the D4 start to blink

The check engine light indicates that there is a problem with one or more of the engine sensors (knock, airflow, etc.) this can also include the transmission sensor.

The possible transmission problem may be causing both warning lights to trigger even before the vehicle's driving performance is affected. Warning lights are indicators of the car's parts that may need your attention. Just like a toothache with our bodies.

Don't wait for any drop in performance before you have this problem checked out by a qualifed technician. Early intervention has proven that is saves you the trouble and greater expense.

Hope this helps.

Well, it's possible, but it would take a LOT of work. You would also have to replace the wiring harness, multiple sensors, and the ECU for a start...

86 subaru gl wagon not firing.

I have the same problem with my 86 GL 4WD. One day it started to turn, and then lost all power. I couldn't even turn on the lights. I have played with the ignition switch wires, and gotten it to fire. I think there may be a short somewhere in the switch or the wires to the harness, but I have not isolated it yet. You might check your ignition switch and wiring...
