SOURCE: my 2000 honda civic engine light on code p1456

Hey I had the same code and I have a 2000 honda civic lx. My cousin works at honda and drives a '96 honda civic and he has had that code before on his car as well.

First thing he came up with was that the catalytic converter was cracked. We checked mines, and lo and behold, that's what it was.

Look under your hood, and there should be a catalytic converter with a sensor sticking out of it. It is connected to the exhaust manifold and the sensor sticks out of the heat shield. Around the sensor, look for a crack. If there's a crack, that's your problem.

2000 honda civic wont start

No start problem. This is many a times caused by weak battery or faulty battery, or can be possible that battery to starter connection is loose or faulty starter itself.First the battery to start and both battery and starter voltage needs to be checked and confirmed. If that is checked ok, then other possibilities like faulty spark plugs,m faulty fuel pump etc etc needs to be checked. • If this is the only code you are getting, for a 2000 Honda Civic, this code indicates you need to replace the Catalytic Converter.

Honda civic 2000 problem code PO420

P0420: Calayst system efficiency below threshold (Bank no. 1)
You can clear the code by turning your engine off, locating fuse number 12 in your under hood fuse box (backup, radio 7.5A) and pulling that fuse for about 10 seconds. If the code comes back, it was not a glitch and I would have the code checked out (has to do with you catalytic converter, I believe).
Hope this helps you.
