On my 1995 GMC suburban K1500 I am having a problem with my transmission shifting into 1st or into overdrive. I had the transmission rebuilt and about 40 days later the problem started if you put the truck into drive it will stay in 3rd unless you shift it down into 2nd the tranny shop says it's the computer but i have replaced it with 5 compatible computers and nothing has fixed the problem it even made it worst in some cases losing speed and tac is there anything else that could be causing the problem besides the computer

96 gm trucks had a proble with third gear burning out because of a ground issue from pcm..there was a bulletin for adding a new ground for third gear control circuit...aftermarket trans shops do not remember this problem and it is often overlooked..take to local dealership and you should be able to get problem resolved

It sounds like your torque converter or the pump is broken.

The shift down linkage on the carburetor below the gas pedal cable might need to be adjusted to increase the hydraulic pressure on the internal clutch plates in the transmission it shows you how to do that in a car manual.
