Chysler vehicles are notorious for having recalls. Call your local dealer with your 17 digit vin and see if there are any active recalls on for vehicle. One call possibly fix this problem. If not, you need to check your engine temp sensor, the electric fan relay, and fan module. One of these switches and sensors are telling the fan to come on because the engine is warm and needs to be cooled off. You will find most of these sensors and switches near or close to the front of the motor close to the fan and top radiator hose. You can also retrace the wiring harness from the fan motor back to most of the sensors that control it. Hope this helps.

on a lot of vehicles, the electric fan cooling the radiator will stay on when the car is turned off. this is normal and happens when the senser tells the fan that the engine is hot and needs cooling. if it stays on for prolonged periods, there is a problem somewhere. should cool and turn off automatically. 2006 PT Cruiser radiator cooling fan stays on whenever the car is running. Is this normal? If not, is there a fix?

It might have a bad tempature sensor or a stuck thermostat .Faulty relays or a wiring issue I recently found a bad cooling fan plug on a 06 pt cruiser. You should first have it checked for computer codes it may show a code for the problem.

2006 pt cruiser, cooling fan motor stays on after car is shut off, drains battery. car is not overheating though.

check the fluid in the radiator, and replace the thermostat the way it is positioned it could stop the flow from the radiator and keep the fan from turning off, I have found on several of them that I have worked on that the thermostat was bad. hope this helps. Only other things that would cause this or most common is the antifreeze is bad or the water pump is defective or you have a bad radiator hose but have not seen this on any I have worked on.

2006 pt cruiser, check engine light came on. Shortly after, gas cap light. Replaced gas cap and reset. Today bith lights came on again.

are you fueling car with key "on"? That will cause light to come on. Disconnect battery for 1 hour and this will reset "keep alive memory" and clear codes from memory. Drive car for 10 miles so computer can relearn engine parameters. It may run rough during this period.
