i have 86 chevette with a 1.6l engine. it had a problem of low idle came home in a snow storm now it revs way too high. checked the timing it seems to be okay, but as soon as you reconnect the vacum hoses takes off at about 1600rpm or higher. we checked all the vacum controls with the vacum tester seem to be fine so were at a loss to the problem. ken

these were famous for pcv valve hose collapsing! """"not to say """"this is the problem but i would look very close at that not leaking cracked and collapsed and closes self off when running good luck
