In the bottom of the distributor under the plate there is a coil with hair-fine wire, a broken wire there will cause the no-spark issue for sure, check it with an Ohmmeter for continuity, good luck!

My 1986 chevy van g20 cranks but wont start no fire replaced cap, rotor and coil .

I would suggest changing the pickup in the bottom of the distributor. Also crank the engine with the cap off of the distributor and make sure that the rotor bug is turning and make sure there is 12v at the coil with the key on.

I had to replace the magnetic pick-up sensor on the side of the distributor that tells the coil when to fire on my 86 truck. It was $80 and slips onto the distributor held on by the cap.

78 chevy 350 motor has no spark or power to the distributor

there has to be a wire from the coil to the distributor to the points inside the distributor
if it has points , check that they are not shorted out and that the moving point is insulated from the distributor plate
check for a condenser attached to the moving point and fixed to the distributor body
if it has an electronic system , it could be a problem igniter unit in the distributor

Why wont it spark

Someone needs to check for voltage at the coil and the distributor.
The pickup coil in the distributor tells the coil when to fire.
If you are getting spark at the coil tower but not at the plugs, check the cap and rotor.

1998 Dodge Durango, when starting everything seems to be coming on but it wont fire, (turn over) just replaced battery 4 days ago. Have checked the battery and it appears to be hooked up tight. It does...

If it smells like it is getting gas and then floods check spark plugs see if soaked in gas clean and dry reinstall see if it will start if so you have a weak spark either the coil or the pickup coil in the distributor or both are going bad start with coil then if problem is still there replace distributor and put a new cap and rotor on new distributor good luck

I replaced ignition module and no spark still! I also did the trouble light on the neg on coil and pos on battery and no flashing on light so where do I go now?

Well, assuming that you have the light hooked up correctly ( one side on battery hot post, one on coil neg post, I'd look at the pickup assembly. That is where the module gets its signal to fire the coil. If that is no good then you won't have spark. To replace it, you will need to remove the distributor from the engine, remove the roll pin near the bottom of the stem, pull the drive gear off the stem, a few bolts at the top, and then the whole thing should just come apart. two more screws and the pickup will come out, goes back together in reverse. Take out plug one and stick your finger in the hole, have someone bump the engine until you feel a push of air, and then put the distributor back in set to cylinder one, put the cap and wires back on, plug back in, and then fire it up and time it.

Have no fire to the coil

As Long As You Have No Spark, Or Fuel, Replace Ignition Module. In Might Be The Pick-Up In The Distributor, Which Means A Whole New Dist. You Can Get And Dist. With Module. Good Luck

Gettin no fire to plugs or core

No fire TO the coil? spark is made by the coil, it does not go to it!!!
It's possible that if you are getting 12v to the coil hot lead, that the crank sensor has failed, or the coil itself is bad, There is also a remote possibiolity that the pickup sensor in the distributor is bad, but this is rare compared with the other two items I mentioned. Also, make sure your ignition wires are in good condition and not wet or damp!!
