How to calibrate heater not working in 1999 Buick

Heater or a/c not working in my 1999 Buick. Shows different temp readings and have to turn the heater temp up to about 99 F to get heat but won't shut off without lowering the control. No heat or a/c and have been told it may need to be recalibrated. Vehicle had had some repairs just previous to this problem but the repairs had nothing to do with heater or a/c. Is calibration a possibility? Otherwise, what?

SOURCE: heater valve

there is no heater control valve in this truck, heat control is done through what are called blend doors. So the issue may be the front blend door motor has failed, this is very common on all Ford heatimng systems except the Focus.

Check water pump and make sure that its working. Should be circulating antifreeze in radiator and in engine. You can also check and the head gasket and make sure its NOT blown. Good luck and thanks for using FIX YA

Heater-A/C control calibration procedure

I found these instructions when my heater suddenly stopped working. Start car, while car is parked turn temperature to 75. Hold down the floor, defrost/floor and the defrost buttons. Wait til the temp light starts blinking, release. It will blink for a while and either recalibrate and be fine like mine or you could get 1 of 16 different trouble codes. Hope this helps. ;p ~Redmoon

Heater blower motor is the proper terminology for this. Best getting it with the fan attached. Said unit is under the hood attached with small bolts to the heater core box on the passenger side firewall. It's the round piece that sticks out and is easily replaced once you have everything out of your way.

Make sure there are no leaks and that the system is full to capacity. After the vehicle has warmed up check radiator hoses for temperature differecial also check heater core hoses. A significant difference in temperature may indicate a plugged heater core or thermostat failure

you have lost A/C and heater calibration , disconnect the battery for 10 minutes then hook back up start the truck turn the climate control back on do not touch any other button for 5 to 6 minutes let the ecu reprogram then set your temp setting and it should work fine
