I changed the filter on the frame. Is there some kind of filtering system up at the throddle body that could be plugged as well

Good morning everyone, I replaced both fuel pumps in the tanks and it solved my problem. The idle has leveled out and all is well again! The pumps I removed were original equipment so they had a good run. All of the advice was very helpful and I hope this will help another person one day. Thanks again!

Sounds like the fuel pump is going bad(or in this case, has gone bad). I suggest that you change the fuel pump and use a fuel cleaner in your gas tank as dirty gas may have caused the problem to begin with.

I will replace both of them this weekend. Thanks

This really seems like a fuel pump issue. To check, disconnect the fuel supply line from the manifold and while holding the open end of the supply line in a jar or bottle, crank the engine and hold down the gas pedal at the same time. If you get a steady stream of fuel flowing to the container,it is not the fuel pump. The fuel pump is mounted on the side of the engine block and has a hose running from it to the manifold or another devise for dividing and delivering the gas to each cylinder. You may also have an inline fuel filter that may be located under the vehicle between the fuel pump and the gas tank. If you do not get a steady flow of fuel, try replacing (or temporally removing the filter) to check for flow. I hope this helps you out.

Problem could be clogged fuel filter faulty fuel pump, have vechicle code scan the throttle body injection unit cause same problem you having if you have a bad tps sensor.it will cause hard starting and engine idle speed surging up and down.

Since it's getting older you might want to check your gas lines real good to look for a small leak where you could be losing fuel pressure. I struggled with my 350 Yukon for awhile before I finally got a slight smell of gaa and then found my return line on the tank had a rusted fitting.

Spray the intake with carb cleaner to find the vacuum leak. Check where the EGR mounts and the throttle body gasket sense you had both off.

Motor turn won t start untill u pour gas down throddle body then it runs

You have a fuel delivery problem. If it shuts off after you do that, then you probably have a bad fuel pump,or a broken fuel line.

1988 chevy S10 turns over but won't start getting spark put in new fuel pump, cpu and injector. If I pour A little gas in throttle body hole it will fire for a few sec. fueses all test good.

Hello, just had this problem myself. Check your EGR valve by pulling the vacume line off and pushing up under the valve put your finger over the vacume line hole and release the valve, if it returns to normal position then its bad if not its good. If its bad it needs replaced. Mine did the exact same thing and thats what it was. Hope this helps

sounds like you have a problem with your fuel presure regulator

as for pouring gas down the tbi try turning your key on then off a few times wait about 3-5 secs for the fuel pump to prime the system and try that if the key prime works than have a mechanic presure test the f.p.r.
and try and remember there are a ton of auto salvage yards that will sell an fpr for like 20 bucks including the fuel rail

90 chevy 350 with TBI starts but wont stay running changed fuel filter and fuel regulator dont know what next

I have a 90 chevy k1500 350 tbi with same problem! I have traced problem to... after turning on key fuel pump kicks on when u crank it over injectors shoot gas and truck starts! After few seconds injectors stop spraying and truck dies! This can happen many times over and over! Eventually sometimes truck stays running and all is great! I changed ignition module, oil pressure sending unit (which i was told controls gas after vehicle is running) fuel filter, computer, fuel pump relay, I am at a loss now! Hope this helps and hope someone can help me!

93 chevy 350 throddle body problem

Hello;
The injector assembly also contains the pressure regulator. Since the truck has been sitting, you may have some corrosion in the regulator and the injectors. Try a fuel cleaner and the work on the regulator.

GM TBI low voltage at the injectors

sounds like a computer issue on the burb, but i would check the IAC(idle air control) valve and the TPS(throttle position sensor) first.
I would start with the IAC on the 93'.

1989 Chevy Truck 350 Stalled Wont Start After I filled Gas Fuel

You need to check the fuel pressure to the TBI. I just fought one which was doing the same thing. I pulled the fuel tank to replace the fuel pump. It turned out to be the short hose from the fuel pump to the steel line coming out of the tank. It had a split in it so I wasn't getting enough fuel pressure. Some places show two pumps available. One you can pull the unit and replace just the pump. The other the pump and sender are all one unit. Hopefully you have the first one. The second is around $300.

The easiest way to get to the top of the tank is to pull the front 6 bolts mounting the bed and loosen the back two. Take the three screws from the filler neck and unhook the rear axle vent tube. You can then take an engine hoist and lift the front of the box. You can get right to the pump and gauge assemble in the top of the tank. Most times, this works easier than emptying the fuel tank and removing it.
