Where do i find the knock sensor for tranny on 2000 exterra

It is underneath the lower intake in the middle of the "valley" on V6 models. between the cylinder heads on the block. pretty big job. the knock sensor WILL NOT turn the check engine light on. it will store a code but NOT turn the light on. (i am a nissan tech, trust me) it will effect the timing and fuel strategy though.

Hope this help (remember rated this).

2001 exterra. Engine missed, service engine light came on and mechanic diagnosed and replaced knock sensor. Ran fine for 25 miles and now misses again.

Could be any number of sensors, MAF is one that comes to mind on missing. Mass Air Flow, make sure your mechanic is reading the codes and not just throwing parts at it OBDII can pinpoint the problems and parts. Computer can take up to 50 miles to reset the parameters, so it may be another sensor.
