Hey mick, with out knowing where about the leak is coming from (front back or top of the gearbox ect.) there isn\'t a sure way of telling you what is wrong, it may be your rear main it could be the rear seal at the back of the transmission, they are something like $40 to replace.

If you examine the exhaust system you should be able to find the leak. Look for any cracks in the manifolds themselves. Then from there I would check the joint between the manifolds and the down pipe. Usually it will be somewhere in there. If you don't have to put it through emissions then a straight pipe with a muffler all the way back is a fairly cheap investment. For the second problem being that its EFI it doesn't sound like a starter problem but more like a sensor problem if it is having an issue with hot starts.
thank you,
Lee

The auto dip stick should be at the rear of the exhaust manifold on the drivers side of the motor,
You may find that it is overdue for an auto service, on the the 4 speed falcons this should be done every 80,000kms or so. depending on how and where the vehicle gets driven
