Question about Cars & Trucks

1 Answer

My car was dead last week. My battery has been very weak, so I thought it was because of the battery, so I changed a new battery. After waiting for 20 minutes, my car started again. It ran normally for 2 days. I parked my car from wednesday to Monday without touching it. Then, yesterday, I had to start my car for the second time. The first time, it didn't start and has the same symptoms. Only clicking noise. I drove my car to the gas station closed to my place. I stopped my car, and when I went back, my car won't start anymore. I waited for my cousin getting back from work and tried to jump started. I connected the cables for 30 minutes, but my car doesn't seems want to start.

SOURCE: sometimes my 2008 sonata won't

It sounds like this could be your fuel pump sensor also as mention in the earlier post the click could be the pump relay reseting allowing the pump to come on to deliver fuel to the engine. You may also want to check the ignition relay in the fuse box under the hood, a weak relay can heat up and need time to reset before letting the engine start, at the dealership they may not give it time enough to heat up to cause the problem. When the problem occurs again turn the key and listen for the pump to come on if it does come on, then move to the next solution. Hope this helps.

SHOULDN'T MY BATTERY LAST MORE THAN A WEEK

I have a 95 Grand Am. We had a long and cold winter here in michigan. So my battery died. I purchased a new battery recently and car started right up. After sitting in my driveway for a few weeks, battery...

You need to run a parasitic drain test with a multimeter. Disconnect the vehicle battery positive terminal and connect the multimeter in series between the battery positive terminal and lead. the multimeter should be set to display amps. With all systems turned off, the keys out of the ignition and all doors closed, alarm off and any hood/bonnet switch depressed then after 20 minutes the amp reading should be around 0.03 or less. If you have more than 0.05 then you may have a parasitic drain, causing a n accelerated loss in battery power. In this case, using the same setup then pull fuses one by one from the fusebox until your amps drop down to the normal range. The fuse you pull which causes the range to drop to normal represents the system which is at fault.
The most common causes of parasitic drain from my experience tend to nearly always be failed back up batteries in alarm siren modules or badly wired or faulty stereos. Those are the two systems I'd pay particular attention to.
Of course it may be a simple human fault like you left your trunk/boot light or interior light on.

Help! Changed battery but still don't work for a long time

you probably have a short in the amplifier under the driver's seat. I had the same problem. Bought mine used, but the amp had water damage due to the vents for it on the left side of the driver's seat letting in water, probably snow or something that fell in there. Was $1200 to replace. Basically your car will be fine for a couple weeks, maybe a month then the battery will die.

My diesel hasn't started for a week now. first we thought the batteries were dead. so i bought one new one and charged the one they said was good, and its still weakly cranking and i don't understand what...

the battery you charged may have 12v+ but if they didnt check with a load it may have a short internally so cranking amps will drop check your connections make your grounds are clean and tight from there if load test is good on battery and grounds are good starter may be bad.
