Question about 2006 GMC Envoy
I keep getting warning lights that say shut off engine
If oil level in engine is at proper level, I wouild suspect oil pressure sending unit, does vehicle have an oil psi gauge on dash,,,if so what does it read. if oil psi reads well then it may be an oil level sensor. if you have access to a manual oil pressure gauge, you can remove the oil psi sensor and install manual gauge to get a true reading of what oil pressure is while running. if manual gauges shows low psi, then you may be looking at an oil pump.

I had the exact same problem with my '96 Cabrio, it was a cylinder that was stuck open slightly allowing oil to go from the engine to the pan that made the sensor think there was something much worse wrong with the engine. They were able to fix it. That noise the oil light makes is very loud.

SOURCE: Oil sensor
The oil light on your car has nothing to do with oil level in the crankcase but rather oil pressure. The oil pressure switch/sensor is located on the rear of the engine block above the right axle I believe. Unless you have engine noise or suspect low oil pressure, I'd replace it but you could check oil pressure for peace of mind with an pressure gauge if you wish. You may need a special socket to replace it.

That sounds like you bought big problems. Oil ights indicate low oil pressure= BIG BUCKS. I would have a qualified repair shop check it out, A shop that specializes in BMW. If you are lucky, maybe the oil sender is just bad. They can also check out the Ck eng light. But the oil light is priority one.
