SOURCE: 2000 monte carlo how to replace water pump.last bolt

there should be holes in power steering pump pulley that when positioned correctly the bole should go through one of those holes, if not then you have to remove the pump

Behind the lowest pulley on the engine. This is the crankshaft. Remove the belt. Remove the tire on the passenger side along with the plastic coverings for the engine. Remove the bolt holding the pulley Use a pulley puller to pull the crankshaft pulley off. Remove the sensor on the right side if the of the shaft.

If you are driving the car and it wont start after driving awhile. Do a wiggle on the CKP (crank position sensor) this sensor is located at the front main engine pulley, I am seeing a lot of loose male to female connection shut car off.

mostly standard metric sockets, but you will need a puller to get the crankshaft pulley off the crankshaft. The pulley bolt is also a large one--about 20mm

What is the big pulley call.That control the belt.I have 2002 6cy chevy monte carlo.A it make noise and hard to turn


It's the pulley for the crankshaft. This pulley is very hard to turn, that's the way it should be. It may be noise coming from the tension pulley or another place other than there.

There should be a decal on the bottom side of your hood, or somewhere in the engine compartment. If there isn't just put it on the crankshaft (bottom pulley) and go ribs to ribs, and flats to flats, and work your way around.

1995 monte carlo wont turn over


Pull off the fan belt and see if it turns over. the alternator or water pump may have seized up and that is what is preventing the engine from turning over. if it starts don't run it, shut it off and spin the pulleys on the fromt of the engine to see if they all turn free. Mike
