    Tested all the fuses

  • Check for loose or a break in a wire at the connecter plugs going onto the lights, Make shure that all ground wires are tight where they connect up to the body of the car,,Check bulb sockets for corrosion ,, Then Take a tes light , Have a friend helping you in side the car to turn the light on end off to se if you get power comeing to them, If not i would be thinking the problem is the multi function control is shot,

Is the multi-function control in the steering column?

  • Brian Davis Nov 28, 2012

Ok so I ran a new ground to the connector at the tail lights and now the tail lights and parking lights are working... But the only way to cut them off is pull the connector apart.
    So what does this mean?

Has anyone bothered to scan the IPC (Instrument Panel Cluster) or the GEM (General Electronic Module) to see if there are any fault codes? Does the engine run OK when this happens? I had a Grand Marquis that was doing something similar and the modules had several U-codes. Finally found the problem in the Transmission Range Sensor - it was shorting out the data line.

Can a shade tree guy change the lighting control module under the dash on a 2005 ford crown vic?My lights go out while driving. You can hold the brights on to get home.

Yes they are easy to change, But they aren't cheap. I work on a lot of police cars and usually the light control module will have just one dead circuit in it, like no parking lights or no headlights. You can bypass the one circuit that is bad with a relay.
