SOURCE: When trying to fill the gas tank the gas spits out

you cannot use the autofill guns as they are too quick.only fill manually and try twisting gun to one side when filling.(there is a restrictor in the tank that stops flow if car overturned.)

SOURCE: 2007 kia spectra fill up gas tank and it wont run right for a few miles

Do you have the habit of trying to get exactly $30 in it, and top it all the way off as a result? If so, stop it, because liquid fuel may be getting into the evaporative emission system. It's supposed to absorb fuel vapors and then feed them to the engine so they don't escape to the atmosphere, but a big ol' slug of raw fuel up in there is going to totally overwhelm it.

I have a 2004 Freestar and we are having trouble putting gas in cause it spits it back out when we put it in fast.

run the fault codes and look for an EVAP problem not venting the tank
reduce the fuel flow from the station pump by not opening the trigger so much
turn the nozzle around in the inlet tube so that the fuel doesn't switch the nozzle off

2003 kia Sorento gas keeps spitting back out when I try to fuel up

There's usually a flap on the fill tube below the gas cap. Try to put the pump handle past the flap, and slowly pull the pump handle to fill the tank.

Why is gas spitting out the filler when attempting to fuel my 2003 kia sorento

Unfortunately it's a manufacturing or maybe design fault. They all do that. It's the way the filler pipe and it's breather pipe are shaped. After the tank gets to about 9 liters before being full, the fuel covers up the breather pipe, so the air pressure builds up in the tank, compressing the air, and blowing the fuel back out the filler. It used to take about 5 minutes to fill the last 9 or 10 liters. If you do it slowly, which is difficult due to the auto switch off of the bowsers, it can be done without getting fuel all over your feet. It's a small price to pay for an otherwise great car!

Gas spits back when fueling

It sounds like the vent tube on the gas tank may be either plugged, or partially pinched off. Once you start putting gas into it, and have a gallon or two in, does it improve? If the vent is blocked, the only venting you are getting will be around the fill tube you are putting fuel into. Until you get the problem addressed, the only solution is to fill the tank at a reduced rate. Hope this helps.

Where is the fuel pump? is it in gas tank? the car will start go a few blocks and shut off and not restart. I think it is fuel pump, may be fuel filter I also need to replace throttle positioning switch....

yes it is in the tank. but you can remove the rear seat to get to the fuel pump, instead of dropping tank. (2003 to 2005) kia sorento. fuel filter is inside tank and replaced with fuel pump as an assembly.

I can't fill my tank up with gas on my 2004 Honda Pilot. I get about 1/2 gallon in and the pump either stops or spits gas back out at me. The tank is not full.

Your problem is the breather on the tank
Its a pipe fitted to the tank that lets the air out when you put fuel in. and it sounds like its blocked up or has a kink in it
Find it ,clean it, and your ok to fill up.

Can't get gas to go in tank, and it will spit out gas

Every gas tank has a vent tube, so when you fill the tank, air can escape, while the fuel is being pumped into the tank. Some vent tubes are metal, some rubber. Yours is either collapsed or plugged up. Look at the fill tube in the firebird and follow it from the gas cap to the tank, there should be a 2nd smaller tube that is your vent tube. Check to see if it's collapsed, pinched, or bent. This is definitely your problem. Check out this web site for pictures of different fill and vent tubes to get an idea of what to look for. Good luck let me know how you make out. Curt

2000 Camry Gas tank spits gas out 2-3 times before taking it

there is a vent pipe that runs along side the fill pipe, this allows the air to vent out of the tank as u fill, check it for obstrutions or a kink, u will need to remove it to check this out.

there is a breather pipe running long the filler pipe, if u look at the furl cap there should be a small hole that lets out air as u fill up, i think that this is blocked .
