Question about 2006 Nissan Xterra
I have a 2006 Nissan Xterra. This weekend we were driving in a mountainous area and noticed that it was not changing gears (shifting up and down) when we ascended or desceded the mountains (it makes a high pitched, constant sound - almost like a sewing machine at high speed). It is vibrating (side to side) at about 35 MPH when we drive on level roadways. It almost feels like the tires are wolbling but we checked and that is not the case. On a side note, the CD player stopped ejecting, most of the electrical outlets inside the car stopped working (fuses were replaced), and the horn beep stopped when the key fob is pressed. I am not sure this has any bearing but thought I would include all of the odd symptoms that have developed very recently. The vehicle only has about 25,000 miles. We live overseas and transported the vehicle (purchased new) in 2007 and do mostly city driving. We have had regular maintenance on the vehicle by authorized Nissan mechanics and/or dealers. What can be causing these problems?

Disconnect the battery to take all the power out of the ECU. Check each fuse manually buy pulling each one. Wait two hours, put the key in the ignition but not turned, and reconnect the battery. Wait a further 15 minutes. The ECU and antitheft system will be reset. Cross fingers and start the vehicle.

nah, I have over 203miles on mine. Still has a way to go. Check your plugs for the dying. For the shaking, try a tire rotation. Could be the tires as well. Have you hit any curbs recently?

Probably the front differential, your probably hearing the famous differential gear whine. Change the oil, put Lucas for gears in it. You can get a hand operated oil pump to **** it out through the dip stick if it has one. Then fill it with the recommended amount.
