Question about 2001 Ford Windstar
Mine idled rough but didn't throw any codes. It was suggested to be the idle air control valve, so I took it off and used carb cleaner to clean it out. I sprayed it, let it sit, then wiped it out, then repeated a few times. I also worked the valve back and forth and let the cleaner get in all the nooks and crannys. It helped considerably. Taking the IAC valve off is very simple. Its only held on by 2 bolts. Trying a $2 can of cleaner sure beat replacing it for $65.

I'm not sure Ford calls it this but I suspect the Idle Air Control. If you have a chain auto parts store in your area, most will scan your computer to see if error codes are stored; call them first to see if they do this at that location.
