You did not state whether you have the base radio or the premium radio but you need to check the 15A CIGAR FUSE and the 10A ROOM FUSE in what Mazda calls the joint box. If you have the premium radio, you need to check the 10A AUDIO FUSE also.
look in owners manual some times it can help.but if not dealership has to fix.you can go online look for hardware for a lap top.you can up date GPS and satallite radios using lap top may charge smaller price than dealership.
I know this is an old thread, but my 2006 325i Nav screen went bank also, but the radio still played. I noticed the glove box light and trunk light did not turn on also. I was told from mechanics is was probably a CID module for $2200, even though I mentioned the glove box and trunk light light were out and specifically inquired about a fuse. The mechanics never checked the fuses, because I checked my fuses in the glove box and found the fuse 61 marked with a BMW symbol that looks like light bulb was blown. The Nav screen started back up once the fuse was changed.
its a 15 watt fuse in the kick panel under the dash. go to the auto repair store and buy a fuse kit so you can can always have spare fuses on hand. it also has a tester in it. my screen went blank as well and I, like you wasnt able to control the heat or air til I changes this fuse. I hope it works for you. best of luck!!!!!!!!
