Dude that nut does not need to come off . if you are taking the rotor off , when you remove the caliper and mount the rotor just pops off . if you insist on taking that axel nut off its a metric socket , from memory i think its a 34 or 36 mm socket . to bad you didn't give those other guys a good rating for trying to help you . i believe autozone and checkers has a loan - a - tool program if you don't have that socket. cheers.

I'm replacing the water pump on my Holden frontera 1995 model, I have to remove the harmonic balancer first but I was just wondering do I have to take the small bolts out first before I do the bigbolt

the socket will be metric size and it could be European metric which means that the socket size will be one off Asian socket size for example Asian sizing goes 10-12-14-17-19-21 etc where the other goes 11-13-15-16-20-22 etc
if the one you are using is a fraction too big get a socket 1 size smaller
use an impact gun to undo the bolt

What size hex socket to change 2002 dodge stratus front brakes

If your going to work on your own vehicles, you need a basic set of wrenches and sockets, standard and metric. Then, if you need a specialty socket or a socket you don't have fine.

My automotive databases won't give the socket size. If I grab a socket from my tool box and it is too big, I grab a smaller size socket, go from there. I'll look around, see if I can find the proper size?

What is the bolt size on a starter in a 2006 Suzuki Verona? one is 14mm. the other is smaller. what is that size?

what are you asking?
i lost my bolt???
or i can't find a socket tool to fit the one there, metric head size?
you said one is 14mm well that is not the bolt size, its the head socket size.
so i guess your socket set is missing all the other sizes?
10 to 22mm?
what we do is try all metric sockets if stumped.,
it will be one of those.

Flywheel bolt size

I'm thinking here that the head of the bolts is not very thick in which case the socket you are using will need some modification. If you look in the socket you will see that there is a small lead in relief and this will only allow the socket to full engage on 1/2 of the bolt head. Place the socket in a vice and use a grinder to grind of the face of the socket until the sides are square across. This will give full contact with the bolt head inside the socket.. Another point, it is unusual to find metric bolts in a USA made engine so check out the other size metric sockets as European metric use 9-11-13-15-16-18-20 mm sizes compared to Asian 10-12-14-17-19-21 mm. in auto production.

What is a step plug on a camshaft sensor synchronizer

Non-Step Style - If you look inside the connector on the Camshaft Position Sensor; you are looking at the socket (female) side of a quick connect plug. For the non-step style plug socket, the hole is the same size in the front of the plug socket as it is at the back (bottomed out in the socket hole) end of the plug socket. This means the tip of the plug (male end of the quick connect) from the vehicle will be the same size as the back end of the quick connect plug, (no step down in size.)

Step Style - If you look inside the connector on the Camshaft Position Sensor; you are looking at the socket (female) side of a quick connect plug. For the step style plug socket, the hole is large at the front of the socket, then about .25 (1/4) inches into the socket, the size of the socket steps down about .0625 (1/16) inches. This means that .25 (1/4) inches into the socket, the socket hole steps down and is smaller than the socket hole at the front of the socket. The smaller socket dimension remains this size the rest of the way back (bottomed out in the socket hole) of the plug socket. Looking at the vehicle side of the quick connect plug, the tip of the plug (steps down in size.)
