Alternator cannot be good if its not charging. with the engine running check voltage across battery. It should read between 13.4 and 14.5 volts. Check fuseable links to battery

I HAD THE ALTERNATOR CHECK AT ADVANCE AUTO AND THEY SAID IT WAS GOOD .CHECK THE BATTERY FUSE IT WAS GOOD ALSO. ALSO CHANGED ALTERNATOR TO MAKE SURE IT WASNT THAT STILL DOING THE SAME. THERES SOMETHING THATS TAKING THE POWER OUT OF THE BATTERY AFTER ITS CHARGE ALL THE WAY UP.

SOURCE: My 2004 GMC Sierra 1500 has been losing battery charge

Try to locate the cause of the discharge current as below:-

While vehicle electrical system shutdown as for overnight storage, connect an ammeter (with suitable current capacity and sensitivity) across the main ground connection between the battery -ve terminal and vehicle chassis/frame - (-ve of the ammeter to -ve battery terminal post, +ve to vehicle frame),
Carefully disconnect the main battery ground cable from the chassis,
The ammeter will now measure the battery discharge current - a discharge current in the order of 0.5 amp or more is of concern.
If all is well, the current draw should not exceed 50- 100 mA.
Note- Do not switch on any load while ammeter is connected, as ammeter damage or overload will occur.
If an excessive discharge current is observed, remove all fuses etc to eliminate / locate cause.

The blower motor is on the passengers side under the dash. You might have to remove the a lower panel. This is the insulator panel. If the blower works at all just turn it on and follow the noise.Hope this helps.Good luck.

SOURCE: Have checked battery and alternator, both good.

If you look where the heavy wire from the alternator goes into the end of the fuse box near the battery there is a mega fuse there. I would check that and the nuts that hold that fuse in, they might be loose causing a poor connection.

Step on gas and hear a high pitch whirring

Check to see how much Volts your alternator is putting out, It sounds like your alternator is working too good and you may be over charging the electrical system. You should have 13.5 to 14.5 Volts, any more then that. You will end up burning something out other then just a light bulb. If there is an Auto Zone or Parts Source, they can check for your free of charge. Good luck and keep me posted.

My 89 gmc 1500 will not turn over

Did you check your ground wire?If ground is good check to make sure your solenoid wire which is purple usually if it is broke if not get a test light and have someone turn motor over to crank position and check if power there if so more than likely ground problem. If solenoid has no power move to fuses under drivers dash..
