Question about 2002 Volkswagen Jetta TDI

1 Answer

Digital Clock on 2002 Jetta keeps changing time constantly.

It stops when car is running. once door is open it starts changing the minutes very quickly. Does anyone know what fuse this would be associated with? Or any known fixes? it just started today and is driving me crazy!

SOURCE: 2002 Jetta 1.8t cuts offs sporadically

Here is the common cause of surges, stalls at stops, slow idle speed, erratic idle speed, rough idle and engine hesitation (and other problems), it is in most cases the idle speed control air-bypass valve and or throttle valve and upper intake, these area's get full of gunk and combustion residue over the miles and cause idle issues (stalls, low idle) like yours, Get a can of intake cleaner from any local parts store, not carb spray, intake cleaner, it is made by a company called CRC, remove the air intake hose to the engine, hold the idle high so the engine won't stall, then spray the can of cleaner into the intake while keeping the engine running, use at least 1/2 the can, shut down the engine and disconnect the battery for 5 minutes, then restart and complete a number of mixed driving cycles, town, freeway, stop and go etc., after a few days the problem will go away as the system will relearn to the clean intake.

I have a 2001 jetta every time I have my doors shut and put on my headlights it makes a beeping sound but stays constant like ehhhhhhhhhh it won't stop until 5 min into driving how can I turn it off??...

Sounds like the car thinks its off or the door is open and your leaving your lights on thats usally a warning once you turn car off or open the door to let you know that you forgot to turn em off so you do not kill the battery.

it could be the igitnition switch but from hwat i read its likely driver side front door lock microswitch stuck open.
if you have little expe....you can replace it your self and that will solve your
isue.one more thing..microswich is part of the door lock unit.good luck.
see how to for passat below the jetta is very simialar and in comments the differences are explained:

It sounds like one or more fuses have blown. (Your car has fuses rather than circuit breakers.)

Open the driver's side door and look at the area near where the door hinges. There should be a panel that you can open on the side of the dashboard. Use your key or a screwdriver in the small slot to open the panel.

However, there is a yellow, plastic tool attached to the inside of the panel that will help you to remove and insert fuses.

See the following link for a "map" of the fuses.

I'd recommend checking fuses 14 and 38.

2002 Volks. Jetta - digital display for odometer, clock, gears

Mine went blank after condensation inside windshield dripped behind the dash (sunroof drain problem). After a few months, in really dry winter weather, digital display time, gears, odometer came back. I assume water inside dash just needed time to evaporate. Sure beats $1000 to replace unit inside dash!

1985.5 PORSCHE 944 digital clock (changing time)

There are three buttons, let's call them 1, 2, and 3, from left to right.

Clock
Time setting

A. 12 AM, PM or 24.00 h
With the clock in the time readout mode, keep
button (2) depressed for 4 seconds -12 AM, PM
or 24.00 flashing. After pushing button (1), either
a 12-hour (AM + PM) or a 24-hour setting
program can be selected. If you only want to
change the display mode, push button (3). The
clock then returns to its normal timekeeping
function.

B. Hours
Push button (2) a second time - hour display
flashes. Set hour by pushing button (1). After
pushing button (3)*, the clock returns to the time
readout mode with new hour setting.

C. Minutes
Push button (2) once more - minute display
flashes. Set minute by pushing button (1). Upon
pushing button (3)*, the clock is started -
accurate to within 1 second.

Stop watch function
The stop watch can only be set in motion if the
clock is in its normal timekeeping mode and not
during setting operations.
A. Push button (3) - 00:00 display appears;
B. Push button (1) - stop watch is on;
C. Push button (1) a second time - watch stops.
(Additional times can be added by pushing button
(1) again - stop watch keeps running. Push button
(1) once more to stop timing.)
D. Push button (2) - 00:00 display appears;
E. Push button (3) - normal timekeeping mode.

If button (3) is pushed during operation A and
B, the setting procedure must be restarted
(push button (2)). icon_biggrin.gif

Clock/Mileage gage stay on even when car is off.. Is this Normal?

I have a Jetta 2005 and I just noticed that after this:
when my battery died after 7 hours playing my stereo, then I charged it for 30 minutes and my car could start on again. After that incident thet remote key started failing when I push the open button twice to open all doors. They remain closed, only passenger door open. Then I disconnected battery over 15 min to reset computer, and the clock and mileage gage remain on all time after that. Never remain on before it was disconnected and conneted again.
