SOURCE: no start freelander
F4 is a generic fault with the gearbox. The specific reason would need to be read with a fault code reader. Try turning the ignition on and off 4 or 5 times to see if it will clear. You will need to get it looked at.

Your anti-freeze level may be low....check the level in the coolant res. It will show higher level when cold than when hot. There may be a sensor in the res. that will not allow it to start when level is low....
