Question about 1986 Nissan Pickup 4WD 1986
My girl friend got a new battery when installing she crossed over the battery terminals. when she tried to start it she saw smoke. already change alternator, checked all fuses, relays, and wires for damage. everything ok. injetors wont inject truck starts if gas is pored into the carberator manually.
Is it the carberator type with two injector in it? You can try and test the injector power connectors to see if there getting power by taking a test light or a multimeter, ground to ground on battery and hold the possitve on each wire as someone turns it over.chech each injector to see if there getting power,if there getting power as the engine is being turned over then injectors are no good.another thing to look into is the ignition module. If it isn't working or if it got fried then it would give problems as you described.Does it got a distribiter or is it electronic?

The ECM (Engine Control Module) could have been damaged when the battery was connected backwards. I agree with what lymand855 said as well but your problems could be worse if the ECM is damaged.
