What is the electric valve called , after the mass air- flow sensor on the air plenun ? my MAFS is probably toast also.

ok lets start with the codes they say your getting. P??? which 1's and how many. there are few o2 sensors, are they next to the Exhaust next to the converter? MASS AIR FLOW -MAF use this, for now i am guessing, until i see the correct codes your are getting. this could be the 1 you may have below, please read it........

Troubleshooting


Looks like you have changed about all the sensors with exception of the Mass Air Flow Sensor mounted on the air filter housing, and the Oxygen sensors. I would venture to say it is the MAFS, mass air flow sensor.

I have 2004 Honda crv try to find mass airflow sensor ?


The mass air flow sensor is just past the air filter. In other words if the air flow comes into the air box it flows through the filter then into the MAFS. It should be the first electrical plug past the air filter on the engine side of the filter.

P0101 code for check engine light.. possible solutions???


Diagnostic Test Code (DTC) P0101 has a generic description of "Mass or volume air flow circuit range/performance problem". This can be caused by several things including:
> Dirty air filter
> Air leak in air intake system
> Contaminated, deterriorated or damaged Mass Air Flow Sensor
> Poor electrical connections at the Engine Control Module, the Mass Air Flow (MAF) sensor or the Throttle Position Sensor (TPS)
> Faulty MAF or TPS

You should check your air filter and air intake system visually and correct any obvious defects/leaks first.

If a visual inspection does not turn up the cause, then you will need a scan tool capable of reading sensor data to verify the function of the MAF and TPS. You will also need proper electrical diagnostic equipment to verify the integrity of the circuits and continue with diagnosis.

TheMobilian, Yes, the Mass Air Flow is a Hot Wire type. There is a spray made for the mass called mas air flow cleaner. Regular cab cleaner is too harsh and can eat the coating inside mass air flow and it's delicate parts. Use throttle bore foam cleaner; it works like bathroom scrubbing bubbles and eats the gum and varnish. When engine warms up (closed Loop) both sensors work together giving input to ecm for output. Have someone with a live data reader read both sensors. (Let me know the readings?)

PURPOSE

The Mas s Air flow (MAT) sensor measure s the amount of air flowing into the engine.

This value is used by the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) in calculating the required

Fuel injector pulse within order to provide the desired air fuel ratio. This input can also

be used in determining Electronic Pressure Control (EPC). Shift and torque converter

clutch scheduling.

CONSTRUCTION

The MAE sensor is located directly in the airflow path between the air cleaner housing

and the throttle body. Ail air entering the intake manifold must pass through the sensor.

Located in the MAT sensor directly in the airstream are two platinum wires, a hot wire

heated by electrical current and a cold reference wire. The MAF sensor uses the air flow

across these wires to calculate its output.

OPERATION

The hot wire is maintained at 200CC (392CF) above ambient temperature as measured by

a constant cold *e. The current required to maintain the temperature of the hot wire is

proportional to the air mass flow. The MAE sensor then measures the amount of

electrical current required to maintain this temperature difference and converts this

value to an analog DC voltage. This output varies directly with the mass air flow rate.



Pay attention to the Paragraph about the torq converter.

Check engine light on


Those codes tell me fuel system is to lean on both sides. Yes those may cause low fuel but also fuel pump, fuel pressure regulator, and others may cause these symptoms. First I'ld check the fuel pressure and see how well she holds. If fuel doesn't reach proper pressure it's your fuel pump. If it reaches proper pressure but doesn't keep it for long it's the pressure regulator. 02 sensors, should be another trouble code coming if if problem. egr valve, i have no idea how to check without catching up on some reading. MAFS, mass air flow sensor, will cause this. Double check to make sure the sensor is inserted correctly and no loose connections. If put in backwards it can cause bad readings. If there is a crack in the duct work before or after the MAFS or a loose fitting it can be causing a missreading and causing your problems.

1998 Ford Expedition wont stay running


it is probably the MAFS, the MAFS tells the computer how much air is coming in and if it is bad the ECU will not be able to work properly, it is an integral part of the system,

one way to check the MAFS is to unplug it and try to start the vehicle, if the problem is better then replace the MAFS


Edit: also try to clean the MAFS with brake cleaner, sometimes dirt and oil will cause a MAFS to act up, it may be hard to get to the sensor wires but if you take the MAFS all the way off of the vehicle and just spray the unit down well you should be able to clean any larger debris off of the sensor wire
