Check the pre pump in the tank. Under a small cover in the trunk with three screws. crank the car an see if you can hear or feel the pump running. that pre pump feeds the main pump which is located under the car near the right rear wheel.

How to change the transmisson oil and filter on a 1993 vw passat with a vr6

My service manual for a 90-93 Passat makes no mention of a VR-6 engine but here's what it says for the regular auto transmission.
Loosen the bottom pan bolts and let the old fluid drain into a catch pan. Remove it and clean it . Replace the strainer (filter) if it can't be cleaned or is damaged. Replace the pan gasket, be sure the 4 corner gasket spacers are in place before tightening the bolts.Torques are 71 in-lbs for the filter and 89 in-lbs for the pan bolts.

To check the fluid level, the engine and trans must have a minimum of 6 miles of driving on them before the level is checked. The engine is running when you check it. The 20*C mark is the cold level.

VW recommends this be done every 2 years or 30,000 miles.

2012 Volkwagen Passat has twice gotten stuck in first gear after driving some distance.

next time it happens, stop the car and have it towed to the shop, don't try to drive it or fix it just leave it as it is and have it towed in. that way they can look at it when its not working and or you can prove to them that its actually not working. this means dont shut the car off.. because as you said if you do it will start fine, just leave it run as you have it towed to the shop.

I have a 1993 Passat VR6 that i was driving when it spilled the coolant out everywhere. I refilled it to find the leak and there is only a small one coming from somewhere but now the car is...

Sounds like the thermostat has failed and is stuck shut. Car overheats because coolant cannot get to engine due to stuck thermostat.

On the otherhand, you could have damaged the engine (i.e. cracked block, head, etc) when it overheated and "spilled coolant out everywhere". Suggest you take it to a reputable mechanic that you trust.

Relay diagram golf vr6 1993

Hello! Google; "1993 Volkswagen Relay Panel".

Go to the bottom of page and select # 2.

First choice is "1993 Passat Electrical Wiring Schematic". Ignore the Passat, diagram is generic.

You can make sure you are on the correct choice by checking the link; it is www. scribd.com

Click on that first choice and download .pdf. You will have to register first; Site is safe.

Go to Fig. #9 to view the relay panel. The neat thing is you now have a complete wiring diagram for your Golf and it's all free.

If you require help in reading the diagram; Just contact me when you rate this solution and I'll be glad to assist

Passat 93 vr6 wont start. I don't hear the starting motor just a small "click" when turning the key. Seems like a squirrell went inside the car... any ideas? may be a chewed up wire...?

Check the wires to your starter, if there all good then you may have a bad starter and need it replaced. Good luck and keep me posted.
