Question about 2003 Buick Century

1 Answer

2003 buick century, the blower (vent, heat defrost, etc..)went a year ago I had it replaced, 60days later blower wasnt working again. I checked the fuses that are located on side of passenger side dash. but not sure where else to look. i really am hoping I dont have to pay another 200 for another blower motor.

the easiest way i know to check the resistor is to disconnect it and put a jumper between the hot wire and the ground wire and if your blower motor runs you have found the problem you should have a 90 day warranty on the blower motor

SOURCE: buick Century 2001 blower motor

Your blower resistor is bad. It is mounted under the passenger side dash behind and to the left of the blower motor. These things burn out short out causing the fan to run constantly and then they just fry and shut down the fan. It is a hard little ****** to get to and you need 1/4 inch ratchet, 6 inch extension a 1/4 inch universal joint and a 5 mm shallow socket and lots of patients. LOL

SOURCE: Blower motor vent selection switch not working

the hvac selector switch in the dash may be the problem. You need to remove the switch and look at the connector on the back of switch, see if there are any burnt wires at the connector or switch. It's all electronic and the switches have been known to burn out on this and other model.

SOURCE: blower motor fan works on high setting only

The resistors are located in the firewall just above the blower motor. they have a heavier gadge wire going to it. As for the water if it is not antifreeze then you have a leak in your cowl area by the lower windshield. I ran in to this problem on several gm cars such as yours it can be deficult to find good luck

2003 buick Century air conditioning blower

Hi Ken, I'm glad to help! A/C Blower problems like your, where the blower only blows on HIGH and later stops working all together is usually the "BLOWER MOTOR RESISTER" That is where I would start. Ken, If that does fix it. I would replace the blower motor as well because its usually the high resister within the motor that actually causes the problem with the resister. The Blower Resister on most vehicles is located on the passenger side near the motor. Some are right beside the motor, others are behind the glove box in the housing. Hope this helps and have an awesome day Ken.
