Question about 1994 Chevrolet Astro

1994 Chev Astro 4.3L AWD "W" OBD Code 43 168K Miles

This vehicle has sat for almost two years. The current issue is the same issue that led me to lean on my sedan instead of my van (oh yeah, and the fuel prices.)

When I put it aside 2 years ago, we had a code 32.
Replaced EGR Valve yesterday. No more code 32.

Code 43 comes up about 30 seconds after starting the vehicle.

Vehicle runs excellent at speed, idles rough almost to the point of stalling when stopping.

Alternator replaced this morning.

Spark Control Module (underneath distributor) replaced.

Vehicle exhibits same symptoms.

When I put my foot into it, the van will take me anywhere I want to go. It idles extremely rough and almost stalls at stops.

I'm dying for a suggestion.

My van runs great for about the first 30 minutes then wants to stall when stopping or idling. Had a Code 32 (EGR Valve) Replaced it, still doing same with same code. Not sure what is happening.

2003 Trail blazer: My vehicle has been eating through batteries. I have purchased five batteries in the past four months. Something is pulling a large charge from it. Aside from that I have been having issues with my vehicle idleling badly/stalling out until the air or heat is turned off. Then it runs smoothly. What is causing this issue and is my dying battery part of a larger issue? I have had the battery tested after driving it and all the test say the battery and altenator are running well. The test did show that something is pulling a larger charge then normal from the battery when the vehicle is off.

I would replace the Fuel Filter and Run a Can of B12 Chemtool with a Full tank of Fuel before you start Draining the Fuel out of the Tank.

Code 43, i would expect with running rough but that's not the cause , its a result ,if the system detects noise (knock) it will try to compensate by retarding the timing to save the motor , built in self preservation , i hope your not running on 2 year old gas , i'd be amazed its even running at all , gas varnishes up bad enough in 6 months to 1 year , i suggest getting some fuel additive in there to stabilize and clean the fuel system , or have it drained and start over with fresh gas and go from there . cheers .

HOW TO GET MY 1994 JETTA OBD1 CONNECTOR TO READ FAULT CODE

Ok, there may be 2 issues here. 1, are you sure your vehicle uses the OBD1 and not OBD2? 2, Ebay sells specific OBD connectors for certain "special" vehicles that handle the OBD codes different than normal. Like the Ford Focus. As an example.

1994 Dodge Dakota 3.9 V6 dies occasionally, does not shift to OD occasionally (automatic), frequently stumbles while driving. It sat for several years without driving. I have been driving it for three

Replace the gas filter!

That could even explain the failure to shift into Overdrive, as the engine cannot be running lean for the computer to allow it to shift into Overdrive.

Easy $10 fixya.

2000 astro van awd

Have to diagnose the problem, as with all vehicle issues

No one can speculate

Could be something simple

The only internal problem would be burnt
clutches, from lack of fluid changes or other
issues, leaks or continued shifting in & out,
by something ,as you have now,a computer
control issue

I have a 2007 chev. Equinox LS. The panel on dashboard has told me that my Stabilitrak System needs servicing. Is this a serious problem? Also I have to drive 20 miles to my Chev. dealer will this harm...

The service stabilitrak comes on if you pass gas near one of these vehicles. It can be from anything like a weak battery or a sticking EGR valve (my car's current issue) to a wheel sensor module/hub assembly (past problem with mine) or a combination of things. The first step is to get the error codes checked by someone with a reader (dealer or good mechanic). From there, you will know enough to say how much it will cost to fix it. Chevy needs to be sued for this problem because they won't do anything to change it otherwise. It's basically a useless warning light because the AWD is always on, and unless you get an ABS warning, or plan on driving like a maniac on a muddy road, the Stabilitrack is a waste of money. If it ever DOES come on, it will probably be after you hit something, anyway.

1998 Chev Astro 4.3L AWD. Rough idle & misfire Cylinder 6

Hi, the 4.3 liters have an injection system on them that can leak and will show up as a misfire. it is common but elusive to find. you might consider taking the van to a repair shop to have the problem diagnosed and go on from there.

Custom buggy wrapped on Astro AWD

All depends on the 4.3 your going to install. The transmission are the same, that both use the 4L60E. E being that the transmission is controlled by a ECM with the engine. If your running a Aspirated 4.3 and not fuel injected, your going to have to run a 4L60 transmission.
As for the AWD the new AWD system on the Astro works off the ABS system as it runs on 2WD till the PCM detects the lost of traction then the transfer case is activated by the ECM.
The earlier Astro and Safari AWD 1991 to 1994 had a true AWD and stayed active, but was not that great off road since it had a 40/60 split ratio front to back transfer.
Good luck and hope this helps.
