You can hook a volt meter that measures amps in series at the battery. after 1 hour the draw should be no more then .050 amps. If it is ...you can pull individual fuses to isolate the circuit that the draw is on.

SOURCE: i cant find the fuse

The owners manual does a bad job of describing the location, "below right side Instrument Panel", which the majority of us call the dash on the passenger side.
The fuse panel is actually in the passenger side kick panel, where the fuel inertia switch is located at. You have to look in towards where the floor turns up to the firewall to see there is a finger grove in the kick panel to pull it towards the center of the truck, like a door ( what would be the hing is by the A-pillar ).

SOURCE: power windows will not work, sunroof and back

None of the power windows work from any of the switches ?

Start with checking the power to the driver's side power window switch, this is what is routed to the other switches ( through the window lock switch ).

The wire is a Light Blue w/ Black stripe wire, that is via the accessory delay relay ( needs to be in the accy or run or just shut off, and the door not opened yet ).

sscullys_112.jpg

The wire could be broken in the rubber boot between the driver's door and the a-pillar ( if it tests as no power with the key in the run or accy positions.

Right on. Connect an ammeter in series with ground wire that goes to the battery - set ammeter for about 2 amps and check for drain. Then one by one pull a fuse until you come across one where the drain goes down. Now you have isolated the area where something is draining your battery. U now check for all the items on that circuit till you find the culprit. Good luck!

My battery keeps getting drained when my car is not running. auto place said that I have a drain when my car is not running and that my battery andalternator test good. What might be draining my batte

The only way to solve this problem is to isolate which circuit is causing the problem. To do this you must have an amp meter. (one that will read up to 10 amps minimum; I doubt you are drawing more than that) With key off, disconnect the positive cable to the battery and insert amp meter, positive meter cable to positive terminal and negative meter cable to positive cable on car. Normal draw will be in the milliamps. Anything 1/4 amp or more I would consider abnormal. Then star removing fuses (one at a time) until drain disappears.

I have a 99 K2500 Suburban with a dual (isolated) battery system. I don't want the accessories to drain the starting battery.. Can't i just move the accessory feeds (from the starter or main...

I don't know how whatever accessories you have are hooked up but,

When I would run two batteries for my stereo in my car I had it connected to the auxilary battery. The isolators kinda **** because they are to send more power from the charging system to the battery that needs the most charge. They do not "isolate" as in makeing the system use one battery while not draining the other.

What I did was to hook a solenoid (mine was aftermarket but I think the old style Ford starter solenoids that bolted to a fender will do the same) inline of the battery cable so when my key was off one battery would be cut off from the other. That way I could play the sterio without draining the battery that started the car (the radio was on a rocker switch for when I needed to kill power).

My 84 nissan pick up 's battery is going dead overnight and the battery is brand new and the regulator and alternator are fine.....any suggestions?

FIRST THING, START THE TRUCK, PLACE A VOLTMETER ON THE BATTERY. VOLTAGE SHOULD READ BETWEEN 13.90 & 14.80. IF THAT IS OK, THERE MUST BE A BATTERY DRAIN. TO CHECK FOR A BATTERY DRAIN, TURN OFF ALL SWITCHES, CLOSE GLOVE COMPARTMENT, MAKE SURE THE LIGHT IN THERE IS GOING OUT. OPEN THE HOOD, CLOSE ALL OF THE DOORS, MAKE SURE ALL OF THE COURTESY LIGHTS ARE GOING OUT.DISCONNECT THE NEG. BATTERY CABLE. CONNECT ONE END OF A 12 VOLT TEST LIGHT TO THE NEG. POST OF THE BATTERY. FASTEN THE OTHER END TO A METAL PART OF THE MOTOR. IF THE LIGHT COMES ON THERE IS A BATTERY DRAIN. NO LIGHT, NO DRAIN. IF THE LIGHT IS ON, YOU NEED TO UNPLUG THE FUSIBLE LINKS FROM THE POSITIVE CABLE ONE AT A TIME TO ISOLATE THE DRAIN. ALSO, DISCONNECT THE ALTERNATOR, & SEE IF THE TEST LIGHT GOES OUT.BAD ALTERNATORS CAN CHARGE THE BATTERY WHEN RUNNING, & DRAIN THE BATTERY WHEN STOPPED.

New battery and new altenator and but battery wont stay charged

HAS THE ALTERNATOR BEEN TESTED ? WITH THE MOTOR RUNNING, THE VOLTAGE READING SHOULD BE SOMEWHERE BETWEEN 13.60 & 14.80. IF THAT SEEMS O.K. WITH EVERYTHING IN THE CAR IN THE OFF POSITION, ALL THINGS UNPLUGGED FROM CIGARETTE LIGHTER SOCKETS, ALL DOOR, TRUNK SHUT, & IF THERE IS AN UNDERHOOD LIGHT UNPLUG IT OR REMOVE THE BULB. TAKE OFF THE NEGATIVE CABLE FROM THE BATTERY CONNECT A 12 VOLT TEST LIGHT, ONE END TO THE NEG POST OF THE BATTERY, & THE OTHER END OF THE TEST LIGHT TO THE CABLE YOU JUST REMOVED. IF THE TEST LIGHT IS LIT, THERE IS A BATTERY DRAIN. UNPLUG ONE AT A TIME, ALL RELAYS & THE ALTERNATOR, TO ISOLATE THE DRAIN.

I have a 2002 dodge dakota 5.9 eng. the battery drains down in a few hrs. could it be my stater.i noticed several times before when the eng,got hot &if i shut it off for some reason then would try...

HI. I would start by isolating the actual drain.

Here is a procedure I use to isolate a battery drain. Remove the negative battery cable from the battery. Using a 12-volt test light, hook one end to the negative battery post the other end to the negative battery cable you have just disconnected. The test light will glow or "light" if there is a drain. If the "light or glow" is faint, that is probably normal draw for the clock or computer. If the "light or glow" is bright, this will indicate a large drain is present. That should be corrected, asap. Now start removing and replacing the fuses one by one until the light goes out; The one fuse that causes the light to shut off, will be the circuit with the drain. Remember to close the car doors, when testing. If not, the interior doom light will interfere with the results of the test.

Once you have isolated the drain, have it repaired, asap.

I am having a constant draw killing my battery the draw stops when i pull both the tcb 10 amp fuse and the atc 20 amp fuse and the altranator charge wire i know the alt is bad what do the fuses run

ATC, auto traction control. this is to maintain stability during slippage. you may have a closed sensor circuit that is continuing to drain power when the ignition switch is in the off position. Tcb is a module fuse. I would preform the test below to isolate any other draws that may exist.

98 pontiac grand prix gt batt goes dead after two days

Either there is a drain on the battery or the battery itself is bad. You can start by cleaning the battery with a solution of water and baking soda. This will remove any and all drain in the case of the battery and will get the corrosion cleaned up off of it. The next thing that i would do is check the amps on the battery and take the fuses out one by one and then see what circuit that the drain is in. Once you have isolated it to a particular circuit then back track the circuit wiggling all of the wires and components until you have isolated the drain and then fix it.
